    Not really. He has one of MLB's highest K;IP ratio in history. 19 Ks in about 12 IP is right in line with his career, and 6 BBs in 12 IP is about right, too.

    Think about big extensions given to our own pitchers, too. How many have worked out very well? Lester's did, but was that just arb years covered? Beckett's was not bad. Then, there is Buch, Porcello, Sale and others with some good and some not so good.

    Isn't 8 IP and 4 ERs even better? It is 4.50, as well. Isn't 5.2 IP and 0-3 ERs better, too? Why does it have to remain so arbitrary? I realize that setting up new parameters will be arbitrary, as well, but it will be fairer and more accurate. Something like this: 4 IP 0-1 ERs 5 IP 0-2 ERs 6 IP 0-3 ERs 8 IP 0-4 ERs (One could argue 3 IP and 0 ER as being included, especially with today's trends, but I'd be fine with leaving that one out.)

    Robo balls and strikes will be quick and more importantly, consistent. The home plate ump can even yell out "Strike" or "ball," if that's what MLB wants to do. I just don't get the fear and loathing surrounding robo umps.

He did walk 2 in 3IP but just 1 H and O ERs (5 Ks of the staff's 16!) 13 Runs scored" Casas 3-4 w BB Fitzy 2-5 w 3B Refsnyder 2-4 w HR, 2B & BB Cordero 2-4 w BB Ramos 202 w HR Grullon 2-3 AA Walter remains unscored upon and walked zero again (6 IP 3 H) on the season... 17 IP 6 H 0 ER 0 BB 18K

    The ump can't even see the whole strike zone, so there is that, too.

    I think he pulled him at the right time, too. Ialso like how we are using Whitlock, and suggested something like this, not long ago.

    It's 50-50 because he's on the 40, Mata's on the IL and some of our starters have been known to be fragile, not because I think he's great.

    Gotta like what Houck gave, today. It was good to see him throw 89 pitches. He's rarely gone over 90 in the bigs. They still don't trust him for the third time through the line-up, but I guess that's the trend of the day for most pitchers. (Will he ever get a chance to prove he's over that?) I can't help but think a game with Houck going 6 and Whitlock 3, might be our best chance at a W. Nice to see Bogey bust out. Is this going to be Dugo's bust out year?

    Going 5-2 let’s your pen let up 1 run in the extra inning they have to go. Not bad, especially with 8 men pens these days.

    The Sox offer was far from serious. If it was, the joke is on them. I wouldn’t counter either, or I’d counter with an equally absurd demand like$400M/10. If it’s all about posturing and return offers, that should be his starting point after that crap offer of $30/1.

    As it should be, but artificial cut-offs and using a 4.50 ERA as the definition of quality both seem to be lacking.

    To me, it’s more about the 8+ years he will want than the dollars, and I think there is zero chance we offer him even 7 years.

    Trading for pitching has always worked better for us. Bloom valuing prospects so much might prevent that sort of trade in the near future. This deadline could be very interesting.

    I know, but to me, 3 & 0, 4 & 1, 5 & 3 and 8 and 4 seem like more quality than 6 & 3.
