  1. Indeed. I think the players are viewing this time as the time for catching up from the last one plus moderate gains beyond that. The owners will cling to their secrecy of profits and push to keep them maximized.
  2. It's hard enough for a ML Rule 5 guy to amount to anything very positive. These minor league picks are hardly worth thinking about.
  3. The headline should have mentioned it was a quote NOT from MLB.
  4. It was not MLB. MLBTR ran with a headline saying it was "Cancelled" and when reading it... "Kyle Glaser of Baseball America reports that it has been canceled."
  5. I'd rather we spend on pitching, but this looks like a good chance at a decent player at a reasonable cost.
  6. Yes, he is a very big long shot to make the 26 man roster, this year. He is minor league depth. Maybe people are confusing this draft with the ML Rule 5 Draft.
  7. No mention of West Coast teams involved. Hmmm....
  8. The ones who said the Rule 5 Draft was "cancelled," instead of postponed.
  9. I'm not excited, either. I'm not even hopeful on either of these two. I do think Ort might pitch more in 2022. T Reed looked good, last year.
  10. Probably February things start heating up.
  11. Ort made AAA and even got a very brief ML call-up in 2021. T Reed did well in AA, this year. He may make AAA, next year. It's rare, but one might surprise.
  12. Could be. There aren't really any encouraging signs, right now.
  13. It seems obvious, to me, it happens. How many times do players sign the first day of allowable signings? Did the agent really not talk to other teams while the player was still legally under contract to the player's previous club?
  14. He'd just be given a 1or 2 year deal. (Likely, 1 with a club option and buy out.) I'm not saying he's the best choice out there, but he may be one of the best choices in his price range, and I'd be happy seeing him on our roster.
  15. Iggy has far more than 64 PAs in Fenway. He's a career .700 OPS guy. .798 at Fenway in 252 career PAs .800 at Camden Yards (163 career PAs) .767 at Yankee Stadium
  16. It's probably not rampant. It's just hard to imagine two sides in a rushed and intense negotiation, and then just stopping cold turkey. Silence.
  17. Iggy is Major League talent.
  18. Yes, "When we last talked you mentioned you wanted 10 boxes of Christmas cookies, but I think we only have 9.5 boxes, now."
  19. I'd be happy, if we brought back Iggy. He shouldn't cost too much, either. I'm not expecting the 2021 offense, again, but he's a solid defender and good clubhouse influence.
  20. I think everyone knows my opinion on keeping Kike in the OF. Getting a middle infielder who CAN stay on the filed would maximize Kike's OF playing time. Getting Suzuki would be nice, but it would all but force Kike to play 2B more than I'd like.
  21. Getting a decent 2Bman, who can back up SS, seems better than looking at RH'd OF'ers.
  22. I would not be surprised if many agents are, wink-wink, "talking" with teams.
  23. Could Kike possibly play RF? JBJ is just so in tune with CF, although I'm sure he's a huge defensive up grade over Renfroe in RF. Arroyo is a bit of a wild card. It is possible for him to have a fully or near fully complete season, and that could force the choices. Like you, I would not count on Arroyo for jack, but he is on the roster and has skills. I'm thinking McCutchen would be for LF, with Verdugo maybe playing RF when McCutchen is in LF.
  24. Soxprospects.com finally placed the two prospects we obtained from Milwaukee in their rankings list. 18. Alex Binelas (after Walter and before Song) 26. David Hamilton (after Paulino and before Crawford) I thought they'd both be a bit higher, and maybe they'll move up quickly.
