  1. I told you I don't know. That's the main reason I said don't ask.
  2. Again, I agree 100%, and that is why I feel there should be a min budget line. If teams don't meet it, they lose the CBT and maybe pay fines like those who go over. They won't spend unless forced to spend.
  3. So... Pham > MCCutchen?
  4. I agree 100%. The only argument in their favor are the owners (maybe about half) who never or hardly ever sign anyone to mega deals. The system is set up to help richer and more profitable teams have a much better chance at acquiring top talent and winning more games. Sure, even the low budget teams have rich enough owners who could spend way more, but nothing forces them to. While they cry poverty and losing bottom lines, with their books kept in secret, I might add, the values of their franchises are growing exponentially. When they sell, they make millions or hundreds of millions. That is not part of their poverty cries.
  5. The answer is dont ask. I dont know. The Q was a joke- like the thread is.
  6. Maybe once Casas gets the call, Dalbec plays LF vs LHPs.
  7. Try reading where I said Bloom was not there. I was speaking to the Rays' historical tendancies not to go large and long on free agents. Their last ones were 2 decades ago.
  8. It must be his spell-correct, again.
  9. Don't ask me for the answer.
  10. You mean this winter or for as long as Bloom is the GM? The word that we kicked the tires hard on Baez makes me think Bloom is not against longer deals, but he's yet to value a player more than the other GMs and or his budget is too tight to allow him the opportunity to overpay on any one player seeking a long and large contract. Looking at Cots contracts, it's interesting to see that the Rays have only signed 3 free agents to contracts of 4+ years and none above 5. Wilson Alvarez $35M/5 (1998) Greg Vaughn $34M/4 (2000) Roberto Hernandez $22.5M/4 (1998) Their biggest 2 year FA signing was Charlie Morton at $30M/2 (2019). Now, they have extended their own players to very long deals, several times, but this is just free agency. Of course, Bloom was not with the Rays, this whole time, and their budgets have been highly restricted, so I'm not sure we can read that as being Bloom's M. O.
  11. Does it have to do with being a Pillar of Salt?
  12. What was the temperature at start of the last ML game of the 1994 season?
  13. Zero sense? really? Like owners could never be greedy batsards.
  14. If we got Suzuki and Rodon, we'd be over the tax line, unless we trade someone expensive, and we'd be keeping Houck & Whitlock in the pen, at least to start the season. Interesting fodder.
  15. The lack of fodder is extreme.
  16. Indeed. I think the players are viewing this time as the time for catching up from the last one plus moderate gains beyond that. The owners will cling to their secrecy of profits and push to keep them maximized.
  17. It's hard enough for a ML Rule 5 guy to amount to anything very positive. These minor league picks are hardly worth thinking about.
  18. The headline should have mentioned it was a quote NOT from MLB.
  19. It was not MLB. MLBTR ran with a headline saying it was "Cancelled" and when reading it... "Kyle Glaser of Baseball America reports that it has been canceled."
  20. I'd rather we spend on pitching, but this looks like a good chance at a decent player at a reasonable cost.
  21. Yes, he is a very big long shot to make the 26 man roster, this year. He is minor league depth. Maybe people are confusing this draft with the ML Rule 5 Draft.
  22. No mention of West Coast teams involved. Hmmm....
  23. The ones who said the Rule 5 Draft was "cancelled," instead of postponed.
