  3. mlbtr on Bloom... “We still would like to add more pitching,” Bloom said. “Short relievers, that’s something we have yet to address in meaningful fashion.” Bloom went on to add that the Sox would continue to be involved in the market for position players, pointing to a right-handed bat as a particular bonus in the wake of the trade that sent Hunter Renfroe to Milwaukee for Jackie Bradley Jr. and two prospects.
  4. I’m just curious about who “proclaimed” it. We’re supposed to have kept our cabal secret,
  5. He probably stole the ideas from the self proclaimed posse.
  6. As bad as Richards and Perez were, and don’t take this as being their apologists, but Perez was arguably our ace after a third of the season, and Richards filled the closer roll nicely through a crucial time in our playoff run. I’m hopeful these guys can do better the R & P, but maybe we can win again even if they don’t. I’m still optimistic about 2022, but I have to admit I hoped for pieces I felt were better choices.
  7. Basically what various posters have said, today.
  8. A good way to look at that signing. There was a time Eovaldi had an injury history similar to Paxton’s.
  9. Well said. The part about most of the FAs we wanted flopped tells a big story. No GM is perfect with their signings, and when a GM had to fill 10 holes in his 40 man roster, he's bound to make more than 1, 2 or 4 mistakes.
  10. My guess is his first point would be about the prospects.
  11. I know sometimes, when someone defends their position, they might come off as trying be the "final word," but I'm not seeing anyone trying to "lord it over" anyone or everyone. One example, I often say things like "Cora is the best manager the Sox have ever had," and I mean it in a way that is not taking into account longevity or most wins. I didn't qualify my statement, when I said it, but certain posters jumped down my throat. (Same with my Kike had the best defensive CF season I ever saw by a Red Sox player opinion- man a certain poster never let that one go. Who was "lording over" who on that one?) I'm fine with people disagreeing, and I even said, I have no issues with anyone arguing Tito manager was the best or Fred Lynn the best defensive Cf'er. I just don't see how my opinion and supporting arguments was trying to lord over others. I do nit-pick, sometimes, and play devil's advocate, too. I'm not alone on either of those. I provide stats and data to support my opposing views, and I think some take that as me ramming my opinion down their throats or some sort of bullying. Have I called some opinions absurd? Yes. Have I sometimes done some rather tame name-calling? YES! Maybe that's going too far, and it's no excuse to say others do it more or to a lower level. I don't see a clique. Of course, some of us share similar views on various issues, so it might appear like we are "ganging up," but no way is there any sort of cabal going on here. It's closer to a free-for-all madness than any organized cliques.
  12. Agreed, but JBJ has a $12M option for 2023 with an absurd $8M buyout. I know 2023 is not "long term" either, but with these tight budgets we've been seeing, this is a head-scratcher.
  13. Could this be what we see? LF: Verdugo CF: Kike RF: JBJ OF: Duran If Kike plays 2B: LF: Duran CF: JBJ RF: Verdugo
  14. I would think that if the Sox think a .497 OPS guy is worth obtaining, they will take him back in 2023 for the $4M differential. Cots: '22:$9.5M & '23:$12M mutual option ($8M buyout) So, yes, it's $17.5M/1 or $21.5M/2 Renfroe might cost $7.5M for '22 and $10M for 2023 (last of 4 arbs). One could view this as us paying $4M for the two prospects and having JBJ over Renfroe. (Note: I am not sugar-coating this trade, making excuses or sitting on the fence. I do not like this trade on the surface, but I admit I know very little about the two prospects.)
  15. I didn't think any of us get along with anyone.
  16. Unless some Brewer fan loves the prospects they gave up, I'm thinking they should all be happy. Milwaukee doesn't have a huge RF, either, so Renfroe's poor D will be mitigated a bit.
  17. The arm was great, but it didn't make up for the 12 errors and negative range. In Fenway, poor range in RF is a big no-no.
  18. Kike is a lock as a starter- just his position is not. (Dugo, too.)
  19. Renfroe also has another arb year, and although the Sox could have non-tendered him, this year or next year, his total cost for 2 years will not be $7.6M, regardless of where he plays. If he has a big 2022 season, he might make $10M in his last of 4 arbs- bringing his total to about $17.5M.
  20. Man! I've made over a dozen BTV trades for Stallings. He's supposed to be one of the best defensive catchers in MLB, and apparently he does well with maximizing the results of the staff,
  21. I do it all the time and admit it frequently.
  22. And you said “or” a reading comp problem but he goes off on you calling him a troll. Proving it’s a comp issue. Plus he admitted it, saying it’s a present.
  23. Like criticising me for taking a million wrong stands, then criticising me for being a fence sitter and never taking a stand. Cue: “where did I say you never take a stand…”
  24. I guess calling some a fence sitter doesn’t count. Tat for tit.
