  1. I thought the major reason for play a 162 games season was to determine the fewer teams worthy of the playoffs. I hate the 3 game format, too. Too much luck involved. They'll probably settle for 6 teams. The top 2 get byes, and the next 4 play a 3 game series. I wonder if "rust" can adversely affect the bye teams. The best part about the one game play-in is that no teams sit around for a long time.
  2. 14 Team MLB Playoffs? 6 "wild card teams" play a 3 game series. Under MLB’s vision, the two division winners in each league that don’t receive the bye would choose their Wild Card series opponents. The division winner with the second-best record would choose its opponent from the bottom three Wild Card clubs; the remaining division winner would have its pick of the bottom two Wild Card teams still available; the remaining Wild Card winners would face one another. The higher-seeded team in each league would host all three games of the opening series. -MLBTR
  3. Their focus should be on raising the minimum wage and quickening the times to get to arb and free agency.
  4. He'd probably take a one year deal, too. Just up Bloom's alley.
  5. That's the multi-million dollar question.
  6. Maybe the in on Baez rumor fuels the fire a little, but I agree. Not happening. Suzuki and a couple good RP'ers might be the most we can expect.
  7. I meant all pitchers, and my "not done very well" comment was about the overall grade. Yes, Pivetta & Whitlock were good. Seabold might be good. Robles and Davis did okay. Richards, Perez, Andriese, Workman, Brice and several others not so good to pretty bad.
  8. He had us signing Correa, so I think the idea was to move Devers to 1B and Bogey to 3B. (Kike at 2B.) It's not happening.
  9. It's not about who has more money. It's about who is willing to spend more and perhaps tax line implications. (IMO)
  10. They haven't done very well, either, but the sample is rather small.
  11. We supposedly had a deal for Stallings that fell through at the last moment, so our idea of replacing Vaz might not have been so far-fetched as many felt it was, It may still happen.
  12. I can't see skimping on the rotation then splurging on Correa & Susuki. I'm thing the odds are against us even getting one of those two.
  13. That was our easiest schedule I can remember in a long time. Yes, had we played Cincy at the end, we might have been undefeated. Opening against Ohio ST, next year under a new coach is going to be super tough. We also play Clemson, BYU & Stanford at home and NC and USC away.
  14. I can't imagine an Arrojo-JBJ platoon being all that effective, with Kike sliding back and forth between 2B and CF (RF?). If we sign Suzuki, then JBJ-Arroyo provide a decent platoon bench combo, but at a massive financial cost. Again, this all has to be about the prospects. (IMO)
  15. Agreed. We would have been throttled by Alabama in the first round. At least, we make a big bowl. Fiesta Bowl: 5 ND vs 9 Okl St Rose Bowl 7 Ohio St vs 10 Utah Sugar Bowl 6 Baylor vs 8 Ole Miss Cotton Bowl 1 AL vs 4 Cin Orange Bowl 2 MI vs 3 GA
  16. Hint of Suzuki? https://fansided.com/2021/12/06/seiya-suzuki-red-sox-instagram/?a_aid=36534&fbclid=IwAR28_gW_-_XlrUhikQUwW3AFYqzs_vfrH-gb5B0xjqrDXq7yHfPoA_8N0NY
  17. Well, they can work on setting up trades, for sure.
  18. As far as I know, it's just a transaction freeze.
  19. Owners are still talking to other owners and agents. When the lock out is over the moves will be announced. I doubt we suffer more than anyone else.
  20. Sometimes, you make too much sense!
  21. No chance of JBJ or Kike in RF?
  22. I can’t see it coming close to outweighing the negative offended, and I’m afraid it might make it easier and more likely to use Kike at 2B more than I’d like to see. Now, that would improve 2B defense, but cancel the gain in the IF. If we get Suzuki, big changes are coming.
  23. It's a blast! Maybe half the players like being traded.
  24. Never said he was.
