  1. How does this change the fact that all three had very good numbers, when combined, and we lost them all? Just bringing Bregman back or replacing him with Bichette does not get us back to even- overall. Yes, we can project more production from Anthony & Mayer and maybe others, but we cannot say our offense will be as good as 2025. Plus, the 2025 offense wasn't good enough to carry us through the playoffs.
  2. Then the whole cake got traded to SF, the cupcake opted out plus the Gio crumb said bye bye
  3. I’m against quantity . We lost more than Bregman. The others lost did as good as he did combined and for more PS combined. i want 2 and have been consistent on that.
  4. You assume Anthony replaces Devers, Ref and Lowe?
  5. Same or better. whar about Devers+Ref+ Lowe? That’s 650 PAs there of .825+ hitting.
  6. I won’t be shocked if we settle on crumbs, again
  7. Not if they honestly believed their offer had a chance
  8. Hardly even close to ridiculous. im expecting normal injuries, progressions and regressions and this team looks way worse than last year, and we are two big bats away from being the same or better. its ridiculous to not see that.
  9. My updated top prospects list: 1. Tolle 2. Early 3. Perales 4. Arias 5. Witherspoon 6. Valera 7. Fajardo 8. Gonzales 9. Godbout 10. Phillips 11. Soto 12. Holobetz 13. Eyanson 14. Romero 15. Jo Garcia 16. Delzine 17. Sandlin 18. Mullins 19. Ramos 20. Rivas
  10. The thing that gets me is that plan B (K Marte) will cost players/prospects and cash, when Alonso was just cash. What's plan C, because chances are plan B ain't happening. either. Bregman and Polanco? Plan D? Suarez and Polanco? We're gonna outbid two teams? LMAO!
  11. Why? So when he and Anthony are primed, we pass on getting help, again?
  12. These guys have to know their offers are woefully short, yet they keep letting the press know they are "interested" in so and so. Do they really think that please fans to know we are "trying?" It's not trying. It's deception and hocus pocus shams. You can't say you were serious about signing Soto and then say we can't afford to outbid the O's for Alonso at a small fraction of the reported offer for Juan. We'll be outbid for the runner ups, too, and this point, I'm about ready to think what difference does it make. Signing Bregman gets us close to where we were before- barely squeaking into the playoffs and an early exit.
  13. Paez was #20 on soxprospects, com. We've traded #6 Garcia and #19 Travieso for Oviedo and a couple prospects (Samaniego & Guzman) We've traded #8 Clarke with Fitts for Sonny Gray We've traded unranked Justin Riemer for Ryan Watson (Rule 5) We traded Grissom for a prospect Isaiah Jackson. Some players will move up by attrition. I'm not sure where Watson will place. I think they mentioned Samaniego might place in the 30's and Guzman in the 40's. Jackson may place somewhere.
  14. There was a worry about what to do with Mayer, if we signed Bregman and traded for Marte, but now we hear AZ is asking for Mayer, so that would solve that issue. Are Bregman and Marte enough? At this point, it's probably the best we could do, but "could" is so very far away from "will do." In this scenario, I'd be fine hoping Casas returns to form, and we'd have Romy as a decent back-up out of the gate. He does seem better than Toro, Garrett Cooper and the like. We'd still have Duran, so the O would not take the hit by trading him, but I still think it is wasteful playing him at DH, and that's not even counting the benching of an $18M .775 hitter, so the .775 Duran can DH. 1. L Anthony LF/RF 2. R Bregman 3B 3. L Duran DH 4. S Marte 2B 5. R Story SS 6. L Abreu RF/R Campbell LF 7. L Casas 1B/ R Romy 1B 8. R Narvaez C 9. Rafaela CF Or, we trade Rafaela, save $6M a year, and DH Masa.
  15. Last winter got me wondering if we were cycling back towards spending more. The Devers dump put that idea on hold. Now, we see a $21M/1 deal for Gray replace the $21M/1 deal for Buehler. We see Oviedo replace the $38M/2 Gio. We see a rookie replacing Bregman. We hear talk or a Casas resurrection and 300 more PAs from Anthony as our rallying center points. It is a joke- I agree. Of course there is still time to make some significant adds, but why should we expect it? I'm not sure why we should even hope for it, despite within about a year watching JH sign Devers to the largest and longest deal in team history by about 25-30% and Bregman to the larges AAV deal by about 30% over the Devers deal. Both are gone- POOF!
  16. Word is that AZ wants Mayer for Marte. Not sure what else. The money might be an issue for JH, so maybe Mayer, Hicks and_____? (DHam/Crawford/Mullins)
  17. I had no expectations going in- just hopes. Spending $21M on Gray for 1 year tipped their hand. Same ole-same ole. (That's exactly what we paid Buehler and for the same one and done length.)
  18. Okay, but my sample was 34+ not 32+. under 23 (2016-2025) fWAR (the sample sizes were both about 200 players deep at 300+ PAs) 3 @7+ 6 @ 6-6.9 16 @ 5-5.9 20 @ 4-4.9 30 @ 3-3.9 40 @ 2-2.9 (105 over 2.0 vs 64 over 34 yr olds) 50 @ 1.-1.9 (155 over 1.0 vs 118 over 34)
  19. ..and Devers too. BTW, Bregman went down in May. We did greatly improved at 1B (Lowe) and 2B (Romy) as the season went on.
  20. I don't expect them all to, but seriously, we know one or two likely will, or someone unexpected will get hurt or have a down year. I know you are not trying to say our whole plan is for in house players to all step up or carry the torch, but if the rest of the plan is just to strive for staying even, we are doing just that. It's not like it can't happen. We DO have some really good young talent, and just as I am pointing out that a few players will disappoint us, a few ill likely do better than we expected or even hoped they'd do. We have a large selection of young, up-and-coming players that we don't need all of them to greatly improve- just a couple or three, maybe. Maybe Casas has a great year, and Rafaela hits .590. Maybe Mayer does well, but Romy and Story decline from '25. Maybe we get Bregman, and he gets 650 PAs, but hits .750. Maybe Anthony doubles his PAs but does not match his '25 OPS. Maybe Mayer takes up the slack. My point is, this team is so full or "maybes" and not many "shoulds" and "wills." Where do you see us likely to be better, if we bring back Bregman and add a RP'er(s) that matches Matz/Wilson/Benardino?
  21. Good thing I'm off to Cancun, tomorrow and can distract myself. (Our daughter gets married Saturday!)
  22. The thing is, Fred, Bregman doesn't do it for me. They've molded many fans into thinking running the same team back is some sort of accomplishment. (Not you.) Last opening day, we had Bregman. We also had Devers, Gio, Refsnyder and high hopes for Houck, Duran, Abreu and others and moderate hopes for Anthony, Mayer, Campbell, Casas, Hendriks and so many others.
  23. We don't need five to six $10M players: we need two $30M guys.
