Some small 2026 sample sizes but so far... OPS Against These pitchers do better with Wong: (Early did but is gone) Vets do better w Wong Suarez .452 v 619 Gray .661 v .743 Bello .739 to .926 Sandoval .719 v 1.162 __________________ Better with Narvaez: I'd be worried about the two kids. Bennett .518 v .821 Tolle ,474 v .759 __________________ Pen: Better w Wong: Moran, Slaten, Guerrero About the same: Whitlock, Rivera Better w Narv: Chapman, Watson, Weissert ____________________ There is a risk changing catchers, but having Narvaez bat when hitting around .550 is not helpful.

    Agreed. DMay as your fall back was lame, although he's doing okay, now.

    While Springer may be the least disruptive, I think our worst offensive positions are Catcher, LF, 2B and SS- not DH. Yoshida sucks on defense, so moving him to LF is a bit disruptive. Even Anthony looked a ittle shaky on defense, and to maybe help him stay healthier, he should DH when he returns. I'd rather we just get a LF'er over a DH. I'd rather get a catcher and risk some disruption to gave 250-375 points on OPS over Narvaez. I'd rather we get a SS, even if the plan is to move him to 2B, now, in 2027 or later. Mead can DH or maybe play LF. He can also move to 1B after Willson bolts.

    I think he still wants to sell, but he's been quiet about it for a couple weeks. Red is the guy who thinks we should unload suspects for proven stars every deadline- try to go all out every year!

    That's what I thought. If Brez botched the clock, I'm kinda glad he did. Word is, MIN pulled out and Brez had no plan B as significant as plan A. The "suspect" Tolle is now a key part of this year's success. Arias has seen his stock rise to a point where Abrams or Neto are being discussed with his name in any deal.

    Yes, then "he slowed down." He had an ERA under 2 as late as June 12th. He was at 2.18 on June 28th and 2.54 at the ASB. He missed a few starts and ended the season at 4.23 (4.53 FIP) post ASB. He was actually 4.42/4.83 after 6/28/24. (14 GS) Not ace material, but maybe the injury was there but not discovered yet.

    No, every position does not need to hit, bau after adding a SP, our next highest priority is to add a big bat. Even if you disagree, please tell me what slot or player you think is best suited for an upgrade on offense. It's fine to keep 2027 and beyond in mind. By player: .535 Narvaez C (9th in PAs) Wong is at .707 and has improved his defense, but Narvaez is better. Catcher could be upgraded. .602 Duran LF (2nd in PAs) Jones has done well in a SSS, but LF could be upgraded. (Anthony may return.) .729 Yoshida DH with .572 Romy DH v L. Yoshida has been one of our best batters for 5-6 weeks. I suppose DH could be upgraded, but we also may see Anthony return. Note: .594 Mayer (7th) and .547 (10th) have already been replaced by .771 Monasterio, .695 Seigler and .676 Sogard. (Story, Mayer, IKF and Mead are on the IL and Romy can play 2B. Cheng is in AAA.) SS or 2B could be upgraded. Gun to head: choose the best everyday slot to upgrade.

    I'd much prefer Houck begin in the pen, and we trade for a legit SP'er- likely a rental.

    Phillies get Luis Arraez, Caleb Kilian and Brooks Raley in 2 seperate trades. TOR traded for Jose Soriano after trading Gausman, yesterday.

    I think Romy comes around and is a useful platoon vs LHPs at DH or 2B/1B. It would be nice if he could play LF after we dump Duran, but Jones looks fine in that platoon LF role. On paper, the guys to replace are Narvaez and Duran, so upgrading SS or 2B may not happen. The reason I keep bringing it up is that Abrams and Neto are the best bats on the market.

    Yes, to me SP is priority #1 and big bat is a close #2. We do that and Houck in the pen sounds great.

    I'd demote Narvaez. He needs to work on a few things, anyway. (Sept call-up?)

    I agree, but if we don't add a SP'er, someone has to take some starts from Bennett & Tolle.

    It's interesting how we have almost all the same everyday players on the 40, except Jones, but how many starters have changed: C: Narvaez (Wong 1 in 5 starts) to Wong 2-3/Narvaez 2-3 2B: Mayer > a mix> Seigler (Sogard-Romy) SS: Story> a mix> Monasterio (Sogard) LF: Duran to Duran/Jones DH: Anthony to Yoshida/Romy

    If we got a big bat at Catcher (or even LF/DH) I'd be okay rolling the dice with 7 middle infielders filling two slots.

    he was also damn good as a starter. He was our ace in 2024. I know that seams like a long time ago, but it's not. His 2022 season, mostly as a RP'er had almost identical numbers as his 2024 starter season: RP: 3.15 ERA/ 3.30 FIP SP: 3.12 ERA/ 3.32 FIP

    I'd rather we get a controlled catcher, but we need a bat. Abrams and Neto are two of the best available, but at what cost? We may end up using them at 2B and (then) DH. I'm fine with Yoshida/Romy at DH or even Yoshida/Jones in LF (assuming we finally dump Duran,) so that leaves Catcher, SS and 2B to add a (LH'd) Bat.

    His 15 Hrs are impressive, too. You'd think leading the league in doubles would keep his HRs down. He has 54 XBHs and it's early August! He's on pace to join the 20 HR and 20 SB club. He's done all this without improving his K rate or BB rate this year. K%: 26.4> 19.9> 20.2 (but it's close) B%: 2.6>4.8>4.1 (but when your BA goes .246>.249>.289, who cares?) His BAbip is near .340, so maybe he'll come down a bit, but I'm not so sure "working on discipline" is the right idea with a fluky guy like Ceddanne. Just do your thing!

    He's nearly at .290. That is pretty amazing. He's never been over .250 by season's end in the bigs.
