  1. Just go to robo umps, and it's all good for me.
  2. I'm a big believer in rafaela, but getting a young and promising pitcher like E Cab, I'd have to do it, despite the BB/9 issues.
  3. I'm sure harmony won't.
  4. And some of the old school boys should go sit with some stat geeks and really try to see what they are all about, and how data and intelligence can actually improve a player and team. Look what it did with JD. Look how VTek pre-dated the analytics people by having an encyclopedia brain, he used to outsmart many a batter. That damn stat geek!
  5. It barely made a difference, although it put some lefty RP'ers out of business. Almost all teams carry 13 pitchers, now, and they use a lot, every game. That has "ruined the game!"
  6. It doesn't bother me, but I don't think it's the fair thing to do. I doubt it makes any difference in my enjoyment of the game, just as the many shifts over the past few years didn't bother me, at all. (Well, it kinda bothered me that absolutely nobody tried bunting on a consistent basis to force the teams to stop shifting.) Hell, a good hard bunt would be a double.
  7. My bad. Williams is a RP'er. Like I said, I just presented the trade suggestion as an example of how to get a good pitcher without paying big salary (MIL paid half of the Yelich deal) or giving up 3 good/top prospects.
  8. I doubt Story asked for the day off. It's Cora and his confounding rigid rest protocols.
  9. It's not that extreme, but I respect your opinion. I understand how the shift has grown exponentially, and yes the analytics has driven it, but it's basically playing smart and trying to outsmart your opponent (pre-planned.) All the batter needs to do is lay down a few successful bunts to outsmart "the geeks" and turn the trend around. Maybe when the RP'er role started changing due to intelligence by GMs and managers, MLB should have banned the use of so many RP'ers in a game. I mean that was ridiculous, at the time, too.
  10. I don't want Yelich for 2-3 years, let alone 7, but to get a front line pitcher for just Rafaela, that's the price you pay. I'm not sure it's worth it, even by having MIL pay half his contract. I only suggested the trade I listed as an example of a way to get a top starter.
  11. Not quite, yes, but Blair stood farther away from the normal CF position than many current shift players do front theirs. It's like you are allowed to use intelligence and pre-planning, but just not too much.
  12. I guess they should have made Paul Blair play back in normal CF position.
  13. Kinda like Ottavino + German for nothing on steroids.
  14. It also accepted: Yelich, Williams & $90M for Rafaela & Barnes
  15. How about a top pitcher and Yelich for Hosmer & a couple decent pieces with no money?
  16. Possible major fixes: SP: (trade?) deGrom, Verlander, Rodon, Kershaw, Bassitt, Severino, Syndergaard, Wainwright, Wacha/Nate (QO?)/Manaea/ T Anderson Closer: E Diaz/C Kimbrel/K Jansen/A Chapman/D Robertson RP: BTreinen/MFulmer/TaRogers/Montero SS: Bogey/Swanson/Anderson or 2B: K Wong/A Frazier (I don't think Turner or Correa are realistic targets) RF: Nimmo/Conforto/Haniger (I don't think Judge is a realistic target.) or RF/DH/1B: Mancini or 1B/DH Abreu/Rizzo/JBell/Belt
  17. Will Wikelman be protected from Rule 5?
  18. I've been too high several times.
  19. I'd be fine with either one, and maybe if Conforto is much cheaper, he'd be better. I think Nimmo might be a better defender in RF, but I'm not sure. Nimmo's OBP? .482 career, .484 since 2018/ .377 since 2020. (17-18 HR per 162 almost any time frame.) Conforto's is not bad: .356 career, .360 since '18 and .367 since 2020. (21 Hrs per 162 since 2020/28 since 2018)
  20. He should be cheaper and for a reason.
  21. There are a few others on the fringes trying to join the conversation. Those who poo-poo our farm building, which includes some DD risers are underestimating the quality and quantity of pitchers we have, right now: OPS Against .495 German AA/AAA .601 TWard (4 teams) .623 Wikelman A/A+ .626 de la Rosa FCL/A .648 Encarnacion A/A+ .657 Uberstine A/A+ .661 Murphy AA/AAA (slumping, of late) .684 Drohan A+/AA .687 Wallace AA .691 J THompson AA/AAA and then there is Noah Song
  22. But you are saying Conforto, instead?
  23. I'm high enough.
  24. Crawdad has shown some ML success, so he's one up on the rest in that area. Walter is the only one with a K:BB ratio like 75:7, so I give him an edge, but yes, Bello & Mata are alone on "pop." I'm not sure when the last time we had two so near ML ready.
  25. You said, "You should be higher" on them, which is saying I'm not high enough. I'll refrain from calling you a name back.
