  1. No way he gets a QO. I'd give one to Bogey & Wacha. Some want Nate, too. Not me, unless we are sure he'll refuse.
  2. Thank you for supporting my point. How about previous 2 year fWAR? 4.7 Taylor 4.5 Kike Previous 5 years? 11.3 Taylor 8.6 Kike Taylor $15M x 1 Kike $10M x 1
  3. We did offer Bogey a contract- likely before Kike's.
  4. No, but it's not about what they did in 2022. It's about age, trends and with Nate- injuries. Kike would have gotten $10M as a FA- likely $18M/2 or $25M/3. If Chris Taylor got $60M/4, Kike has to be worth $10M/1.
  5. OKAY!!! Let's GO 4th PLACE in 23!!!
  6. I suggested bubble wrap, but nobody agreed!
  7. It's always about the money, and if Bloom overpays them, they'll love him (until he trades their A$$E$!)
  8. It might be nice if just one player returns before expected/suggested.
  9. On August 1st, JD again stated he wants to stay in Boston. We all know Bogey does. Vaz seemed upset he was forced to leave. Kike re-signs. I'm sure we will hear Wacha and/or others saying similar things, this fall. Sounds like a hostile work environment in need for a management change!
  10. I'm sure the players are pissed about McGuire and Pham being in the clubhouse. I haven't heard anything good from players about Bloom's acquiring them. They all must hate him.
  11. No reporter mentioning anything good being said about Bloom does not mean nothing good was said or felt. It's pure speculation- something he seems to frown upon with others.
  12. Yup. They also said Paxton by July. I know he had a new injury, but he wouldn't have been ready until late August, at the earliest, anyway. Kike's injury turned into a nightmare. Our players are dropping like flies.
  13. I know, right? They say "ready by spring training." I doubt it!
  14. According to NJ Advance Media, several scouts around the league believe that Story is better suited to play second base due to his diminished arm strength. Story has dealt with several elbow strains over the last few seasons, which is why a shift to second could help reduce the wear-and-tear on his arm.
  15. Who has specifically said he can NOT play SS? I find words like "better suited to play 2B," not he can't play SS. So, I ask, are you a scout?
  16. Everybody have fun tonight! Everybody Wong Chang, tonight!
  17. Snakebite Season!
  18. Yup. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/09/garrett-whitlock-to-undergo-season-ending-surgery.html
  19. I guess Bogey, JD and others saying they'd love to stay in Boston must mean they hate Bloom.
  20. I'm hopeful he will make the right choices. He will likely get a couple wrong for every 3-5 he gets right. He really can't miss on the big signings, despite a league-wide record of more wrong than right on the biggest signings. I'm thinking he will make one big trade, which includes parting with a top 5-10 prospects, but we'll see.
  21. After trading Betts and his $27M and $16M of Price's deal, Bloom still cut salary, so that is pretty clear evidence, too. I suppose, he could have tried to dump Sale or trade Bogey and JD, so he could keep Betts and re-set the tax, but then where would we be, now?
  22. No, I know your beef has only been about the return. On Bogey and Raffy, yes, Bloom has choices on where to spend. It might still come down to JH approving a big contract (or disapproving), but I think Bloom will be the one who makes the choices. One thing to think about, if we do have a restricted budget, and Bloom signs Bogey and Devers, he may not have much left over to fill other high need areas, and we go "light", maybe have some consideration about the results in those other areas. I would call it a mistake to pay Bogey $220M/8 and also sign Devers to $300+M. We'd have nothing to spend on pitching, RF and the pen.
  23. I know Swi did a lot. I'm pretty sure others did. I'd guess at least 4 or 5. I remember hearing things like... Bloom could have found a way to fit him in the budget (which was impossible, as we slashed the budget, even after dumping the $27M Betts got and $16M of Price's deal.) Bloom could have convinced Henry to spend more. He traded away our franchise player. And actual quotes like, "Bloom did, in fact , trade Mookie Betts. That is the truth. It was one of his first moves. Everything else about it is just speculation." Were you on this site, at the time of the trade?
