  1. So, "quaint" is good, and the only good you can see. I heard the Rays are looking for new fans.
  2. The way it works is you put him on ignore. Then, you don't ever see his posts, again.
  3. Is there anything some of you actually like about the Sox?
  4. Getting brighter...errrr!
  5. Murphy finally had a good start. 7 IP 5 H 1 ER 0 BB 7 K E Valdez continues his hot streak, going 2-4 w 2B Abreu had 3 BBs (I think that's 117 on the year!) Rafaela 2-5 w 3B Ward pitched well... 4.2 IP 1 H 0 ER 2 BB 7 K
  6. Margo doesn't cook unless pantyless.
  7. You're welcome.
  8. I'm prett6y sure all GMs have very elaborated plans, filled with contingency plan Bs, Cs and more. They plot out their finances and player control years several years ahead, but of course adjust from time to time. Henry: Hey, Chaim, can I see your winter plan? Bloom: Wait, what? I'm supposed to have a plan for next year, before this one is over? Henry: No, of course not. I meant your plan for dinner, tonight. Bloom: Oh, cool. You had me scared, there!
  9. The Padres usually have a good farm. I'm not sure how many rule 5 players they might need to protect.
  10. I said "or" Signing him most likely would mean no Story or No Wacha+Hill+Strahm+Paxton combined.
  11. How did you come up with $41M? (What the hell were you using?) Story got $140M/6, so I counted that as $24M ($23.3M) Yes, Paxton is $10M not $6M, so that makes that total $25M not $21M, so still close to $23.3M. (Take away Strahm it's about the same difference.
  12. Well, as of now, especially with no Story, we'd need Story at 2B or SS more than we need a DH or a LF'er. But, yes, without knowing about Bogey or other additions possible, maybe signing KWong would have been in the cards.
  13. That type of deal is also possible. We'd also free up a 40 man slot. My guess is, however, the Padres face a bigger roster crunch than we do. They may be looking for a 2 for 1 type deal.
  14. I'm sure they'd like to dump him about as much as you'd hate to have him and his salary join the Sox. $13M is a big chunk of the Marlins' payroll, but not ours. I think the -26 number BTV gives shows about how much he's (not) worth.
  15. I'd still rather have Story's remaining 4 years over Schwarber's remaining 3 years.
  16. I thought my math was bad. Story =$24M/yr Wacha (7)+ Hill (5) + Strahm (3) + Paxton (6)= $21M Both separate examples are about what Schwarber got per year
  17. I think Rafaela, Walter and Valdez are ahead of Ward, but you are probably right about Paulino, Murphy and Wikelman. So, that's 4 gus not 6- even less of a "crunch." I wondered, when the expanded to 26 man rosters, if more teams might take farther away top prospects and just stash them on the bench for a year, but it didn't seem to happen, year one.
  18. I meant to say I Bloom blame for that!
  19. I blame Bloom for that.
  20. Yup. Many people around there are Yankee and Sox fans. that's why their attendance triples when they come to town. Here is Houston, it's a little similar. Too many transplants to have a lot of lifetime fans.
  21. I don't think garcia is 100% "dead money." he may even earn every penny. Maybe the odds are better than with sale or Paxton earing theirs. $13.25M is not a budget killer, ad signing a guy like Lopez or Luzardo would cost twice that. In a sense, we aren't paying Garcia: we are paying for the pitcher(s). Lopez made $2.65M, last year and Luzardo doesn't even reach his first arb until 2024. We could DFA Garcia day one, and the deal might still work out better than signing a SP'er to $30M x 6.
  22. Dumping Garcia would be huge for the Marlins, but I do NOT think they accept this deal. (Most Sox fans would say no, too.) A lot might depend on how the Marlins' scouts view Wikelman. Their system is very good at spotting and developing SP'ers. Maybe they view him as the next Lazardo or Lopez, and might answer the call (then say no. LOL)
  23. Signing him most likely would mean no Story or No Wacha+Hill+Strahm+Paxton combined.
