  1. I'll always be grateful to Nate, but there comes a time when good bye is the best choice. We can bring everyone back, and why will we be better? We can't even afford bringing everyone back. let alone add enough to get back to glory. This is no fantasy team: it's the Red Sox future at stake.
  2. You owe us, bigtime! (Although the 6-1 vs SEA was what led you to needs us to beat BAL, in the first place.)
  3. Now, let's sweep the other divisional bastards!
  4. IMO, he was let go, because he is not an expert at building up the farm, and that was the plan after going all out from 2016-2019.
  5. Sale was his "boy." The others were here before DD. IMO, DD wanted Betts, but he set a price that all agreed on, and when they knew he wouldn't take it, the plan was to trade him, even before Bloom took over. I don't see how this led to DD's firing. If JH wanted Betts signed over Sale, he would not have allowed the Sale signing. If JH wanted to offer more, but JH said no, why would that be grounds for firing, unless DD called JH a dick or something.
  6. Who drops out of the top 10? Paulino? Walter? Yorke?
  7. I don't see where DD's position was different from others and that it caused his departure.
  8. Hey! We end up 10-9 vs BAL for the season. So much for losing records vs all ALE teams! YEEE- HAW!!!
  9. I don't think they withdrew the offer. It was refused, the Sox knew they would not go higher, and they traded him.
  10. Well, we did not play all that well in 2019 and sucked in 2020, and I never saw him get so disgusted.
  11. ...and you think DD was let go for offering that much or wanting to offer more?
  12. I think all big contracts like that have to be okay'd by JH. I never heard anything about one person wanting to go larger and JH saying no and good-bye for even asking. IMO, if DD wanted to offer Betts more and not extend Sale, JH would have been ok with it. Just my opinion. The Sox do have a very long history under Henry of offering what they think their own play is worth, and not budging. Lots of big names have walked: DLowe, Pedro, Beltre, Damon, and others- no to mention traded stars as they neared free agency like Manny, Lackey, Lester and Betts.
  13. Some believe he tried to sign Betts, and when Mookie refused, he then turned his sights on Sale, Bogey and Nate.
  14. Raffy has shown more negative emotions, this year, than I think I've seen in all his previous seasons combined.
  15. I think Strahm has done more good than bad, this year and at $3M, I'd say he was a decent signing. Not great or very good, but pretty good.
  16. His last 3 games were 9th inning save situations, but right before that, he was used in the 8th, a lot.
  17. Pearce was a lesser signing, but same thing- based on playoff heroics, only.
  18. The only way I might make a Sale type trade, now, if if the player has 3+ years of team control. That way, the deal helps now, and when we get to "that time." Someone like Cabrera with 5 years of team control might be worth it. I don't think Bloom will make a Sale type trade, this winter. It's not "that time," yet.
  19. I'm 100% fine with what DD did. I also accept the consequences of what he did as a necessary and unavoidable thing.
  20. We may go with Whitlock and Houck as "relief aces" with neither having the defined traditional closer role. I know many here are doubtful on Schreiber repeating what he did, this year, but that guy has some nasty stuff. He has not done this with smoke and mirrors. Now, RP'ers are known for "losing it" and "regaining it," often, but I'm counting on him as a solid set-up man in 2023. Barnes is winning back my respect as another solid or semi-solid set-up man for 2023. The big staff question will be on moving Houck and or Whitlock to the rotation.
  21. So, pereles 11th or 12th and Jordan 18th?
  22. I was all for the Sane trades, and the ends justified the means on most of the others ones. I'm fine with what DD did, because it worked, but I can't deny what he did has consequences, which we are facing now. It's no coincidence we've only seen a handful of prospects come up since the DD years. Houck, Dalbec and Duran are the most notables with Casas knocking on the door, as we speak. I'm do not think trading so many top prospects is the answer, but a Sale-type deal hear and there is fine, and even called for, when we feel we are "that close." Is now, that time?
  23. DD was blasted for trading over 20 Sox prospects that were, at one time or another, a top 20 prospect in the Sox farm system. It's apples to oranges and NOT hypocritical. BTW, I think DD went to far, but I still thing he was a great GM, and the "going too far" worked. I'm fine with the consequences, too. The ones we are going through, right now.
  24. I don't think any poster is always against trading farm pieces. Kimmi is probably the most reluctant. I've always been fine with a trade, here and there, when needed most, but I'm not for trading top prospects for 1 or 2 years of team control- maybe 2 years of an ace- only. We also realize Bloom might need his arm twisted to do it.
