  1. Would you give Rafaela, Duran and Wikelman for Barlow (2 yrs of control) & Coleman (5 yrs)? BTV accepted this.
  2. Bogey will get one, if not extended.
  3. Fair enough. The thing I like about Coleman is the 5 years of team control remining and some ML experience that shows he has promise. His 4.6 BB/9 is scary, but he K's more than 9 and has allowed on 6.3 Hits per 9 and 0.6 HR/9. I think Wikelman has a lot of promise, but we need set-up guys in the pen, ASAP.
  4. Would you give Wikelman for Coleman?
  5. I'd rather we offer neither one a QO than just Nate. Nate's age and injury history is not good. Wacha has missed time, too, but I like him better. Both would be high risk.
  6. It would probably take more than Duran, Seabold & Murphy to get Coleman, but look what we got for Diekman.
  7. 16 BBs in just 74 PAs is a nice start. While 17Ks is not ideal, it's not that bad either. It's strange that he has no doubles, yet- just 5 HRs for 5 XBHs. If he can stay near .365 for an OBP and hit 5 Hrs every 75 PAs, he'll be a huge plus, no matter what his BA of K% is.
  8. I don't think we offer Nate or JD a QO. Bogey and Wacha, yes.
  9. The thing is, picking who those 5-6 might be was hard.
  10. Vaz, JBJ, Iggy and Alex Wilson gave quite a bit. Tazawa gave 3 good years and not much afterwards. Noe had a 5 year stretch of slightly better than "fungible."
  11. How many gave 3+ years after the top 5? JBJ Alex Wilson Iggy Vaz Doubront Tazawa Noe Ramirez
  12. I did not say anyone was untouchable. Remember I caught flack for suggesting Casas be traded. I think Rafaela & Wikelman could net us a solid SP'er, but maybe a decent third player would have to be added.
  13. One trade on the BTV site caught my eye: Duran to KC for Dylan Coleman. I doubt KC would make this trade, but if we added Seabold or Murphy, maybe they would. That would fill one pen slot without losing much from the farm. Then, make the much discussed trade with the Marlins for a SP'er. If we are forced to take Garcia or can get them to add OF'er Berti, we'd fill the RF slot as well. (Getting two SP'er would be another great idea, if possible.) I'm not sure what it takes, but if we have to part with a top prospect or two from Rafaela, Yorke, Mata, walter or Wikelman, it would allow us to spend more money on SS and the pen. I know this is pure speculation, and these ideas are not new, but I think this is the only way we can get relevant in 2023 without going over the tax line, unless Bloom strikes gold with every signing.
  14. I knew something was off. Turner, cabrera and pen help might be enough.
  15. I think more than most think there is. Besides Casas, Mayer, Bello, Rafaela and Bleis? Maybe Yorke, Ward, EValdez, Abreu, Perales, Wikelman, Lugo, Kavadas and Hickey. I do think Wong, Mata, Walter and German give 3+ years.
  16. Agreed, but he looked very impressive, this year, despite allowing 46 BBs in 83 IP. 7-3 2.49 .593 OPS Against 105Ks in 83 IP (11.4 per 9 IP) He will not be on the opening day roster, but there is a good chance he gets a call in 2023.
  17. I did not add Rafaela, because he was already on the list.
  18. I moved Perelas up, a lot. Jordan finished the season strongly.

  20. Here is my prediction for soxprospects.com's final rankings for 2022: 1. Mayer 2. Casas 3. Bello 4. Bleis (5) 5. Rafaela (6) 6. Yorke (4) 7. Mata 8. Romero (9) 9. Walter (8) 10. Paulino 11. Wong (13) 12. TWard (17) 13. Perales (19) 14. Jordan (16) 15. Wikelman 16. EValdez (14) 17. Lugo (18) 18. Anthony (11) 19. Hickey (20) 20. Kavadas (22) 21. Bonaci (24) 22. Abreu (26) 23. German (27) 24. Drohan (29) 25. Murphy (12) 26. Rodriguez-Cruz (28) 27. Coffey (21) 28. ZKelly (31) 29. Uberstine (37) 30. Brannon Out of top 30: Downs & Seabold
  21. The bigger part of the Holt trade was supposed to be Joel Hanrahan. I was really down on those winter moves and felt like we were playing it "half way." I hated the Dempster signing and thought the Vic deal was 1-2 years, too long. The Iggy & Montas for peavy trade helped a lot in 2013, but longterm was a losing trade.
  22. I'd add Mata and Romero- maybe Walter. What can we get for Paulino & Wikelman? Adding Lugo, Murphy or Ward won't up the return needle, too much, either. A long shot might be for Bloom to identify the one top prospect he thinks has the least chance to shine brightly and package him with Wikelman and others to get something low-cost and with 3+ years of team control. If we can fill one major slot via trade- most likely a solid SP'er or closer, I think the $60-65M can be used way more effectively to fill the other 3-4 slots remaining.
  23. Yes, of course, it is. Occasionally, one of gets something right. Like blind squirrels climbing over broken clocks.
  24. I don't think it's unusual for cheap teams to trade off big contracts. His $12M contract is 15% of their player payroll.
  25. I think it was $27M. Add price's $16M and that was a huge budget relief trade.
