  1. Good to see a move towards "truth."
  2. There were times Papi was criticized for the same thing. Adrian Beltre hit some HRs on one knee.
  3. I agree. Don't mess with a successful approach, and to me, it is helpful to have a line-up with varying approaches. Nobody messed with Vladdy.
  4. This is basically his rehab. Someone else pointed out that maybe he is working on a third pitch, and not doing too well with it. I wish we'd just keep him in the pen 100%. Start Wink, instead. It should only be one or two starts.
  5. Carl Crawford would have been near the top of any historic Sox albatross list had we not dumped him on the Dodgers. We also lessened the Price hit by doing the same, and his opt out of 2020 helped, too. In terms of what we ended up paying, and one could argue we "paid" AGon to rid ourselves of CC, out top albatross list might be... 1. Sale extension (still pending) 2. Pablito 3. Castillo (lucky no luxury tax hits) 4. HRam 5. Pedroia (2014 extension) 6. Crawford 7. Renteria (ended up spending about $30M for one season)
  6. Trying to be light-hearted. We all agree with you.
  7. Maybe he goes unclaimed and is offered back to us.
  8. A question that has yet to be asked by any poster.
  9. Sandy Leon & Franchy Cordero released. Why can't we get quality guys like these two? ________________________________ Matt Strahm to start game 5 for Phillies. ________________________________ Two Rule 5 players returned to clubs (not the Sox.)
  10. What were the CERA's last ST'ing?
  11. This might be the best one can find.
  12. It might depend on how Paxton looks, but I think Houck is best suited for the pen. Here is my opinion on what the rotation depth chart should look like. (I think Houck is a better pitcher than Paxton and Pivetta, but is better utilized in the pen.) Sale Kluber Whitlock Bello Pivetta Paxton Crawford/Houck Winckowski/Mata Murphy
  13. It will be hard to replace Bogey and JD, for sure. It's hard to know what they both might do going forward, as well. It's also hard to gauge just what we need to replace. I'm not one to use HRs and RBIs as meaningful stats, but these two offer some very contrasting numbers since 2018: Combined HRs and RBIs: 2018: 66 233 2019: 69 222 2021: 51 178 2022: 31 135
  14. Houck will move to the pen, when Paxton and Whitlock return. If one does not, Bello can fill a rotation slot.
  15. It also further crunched the 40.
  16. Maybe even Wallace.
  17. Until Mayer gets called up to AAA?
  18. I might even call up EValdez and move Arroyo to SS before calling up Goodrum, even if he was on the 40.
  19. MLBTR reported on Saturday, "Hatfield adds that Tapia can opt-out of his deal on Monday if not added to the roster." That means the 24 hour window starts today, right? (Not opening day.)
  20. Tapia and Goodrum are soon. Allen has a May 15 and June 15 clause.
  21. Yes, they traded Lobo for Park, then DFA'd him.
  22. I think it was a mistake, too, but the final grade is still pending. He could still end up back with us, although that is doubtful, but how would it be viewed, if that happened?
  23. I think Dhern was traded for cash, German for Denlinger and Seabold for PTBNL. Plus, Wallace for Mills. Also, Taylor was traded for Mondesi and Angel Pierre. Barnes & cash for Bleier. We lost Ward and Song to Rule 5, so that makes at least 8 pitchers lost over the winter.
  24. Good to know, thanks. That's good news for our catcher depth and 40 man roster flexibility.
  25. Doesn't how well or poorly he does going forward have a role in the final grade of that choice?
