  1. ...and then go on to give info and comments that supports his position.
  2. Why only list dingers? Beni was coming off a .774 OPS season in 2019- no0t bad, but not great. JBJ was .738. Pillar had a .719 OPS in 2019. Peraza .631 Vaz had a very nice 2019 season, but nobody knew which Vaz was going to show up in 2020: .602 2014-2016 .735 in 2017 .540 in 2018 .798 in 2019 Chavis and Marwin? lmao!
  3. Let's say Story and Mondesi were ready to play and we needed to clear 2- 40 man slots. We all agree on Ort, although it's doubtful, he'd be the odd man out, but let's say we had Ward, instead of Ort. The choices would be to DFA Chang and.... Ward or Murphy? Is this really the big deal we have made it into?
  4. So, 3 out of 9 batters and maybe Nate. Got it.
  5. You did say you think it is up for discussion, so it sounds like you think his position has merit. I don't. That's my opinion as well as thinking there is no point to discuss the merits.
  6. So, you like the 2020 opening day roster better than 2023. Noted and WOW!
  7. Nobody said "no talent:" they said less talent. Worse O Worse Pitching Look at the bottom 5 of that line-up: 1. Beni LF 2. JD DH 3. Devers 3B 4. Bogey SS 5. Pillar RF 6. Vaz C 7. Chavis 1B 8. JBJ CF 9. Peraza 2B This year's line-up may be... (Story and Mondesi out) 1. Verdugo 2. Devers 3. Turner 4. Yoshida 5. Duvall 6. Casas 7. Arroyo 8. McGuire 9. Kike (Add Story and the O is way better, but going by just opening day talent, I still like 2023 better than 2020 and close to how I felt going into 2021.
  8. The opening day starting line-up: 1. Beni LF 2. JD DH 3. Devers 3B 4. Bogey SS 5. Pillar RF 6. Vaz C 7. Chavis 1B 8. JBJ CF 9. Peraza 2B 2023 is so much better, on paper, than 2020, it's not even up for discussion. Many had bad thoughts about the 2021 line-up and roster to start the year. 1. Kike was bashed until July for being lead-off. 2. Verdugo was in Mookie's shadow, still. 3. JD was coming off a rough 2020 season. 4. Bogey was about to have 2 straight "down years," but on opening day, we were pumped up. 5. Devers 6. Renfroe was largely unknown and sucked almost all April. 7. Marwin freaking Gonzalez? LOL 8. Vaz was coming off a decent 2020. 9. Dalbec Our first 5 GS'd: Nate, Houck, Richards, Pivetta & Perez
  9. Not as much, even if ERod and Sale were healthy, which they weren't to "start the season" or all season.
  10. 2020 does not count?
  11. PLAY BALL!!!! Go Sox!
  12. But, who is this "higher guest?"
  13. Did you look at the issues most others have?
  14. Minor League Baseball has agreed to a contract. Maximum organizational players will go from 180 to 165 in 2024. Some hefty salary increases: $4,800> $19,800 Complex $11,000> $26,200 A- $11,000> $27,300 A+ $13,800> $30,250 AA $17,500> $35,800 AAA Plus medical and pension improvements. No team reduction for at least 5 years.
  15. MLBTR reports... The Athletics have traded outfielder Cristian Pache to the Phillies in exchange for minor league right-hander Billy Sullivan, per announcements from both teams. The Phillies opened a spot on the 40-man roster by placing first baseman Rhys Hoskins on the 60-day injured list.
  16. Red from Reading is the funniest.
  17. Many likely know much of what is said, but some likely do not. I'm not sure how much anything affects these guys. True, many may have gone most of their lives hearing mostly glowing comments from everyone around them, and maybe they freak out, a bit, but I never felt it made much of a difference. I'm pretty sure a few players are affected. Maybe Yoshida will, but if he does well- no worries.
  18. Again, I agree. I do think the negativity has been constant and excessive.
  19. There is more to media than talik radio. Again, I don't think it matters. I do think friends might tell players what is being said about them.
  20. The media will still bash those who do poorly more than most city medias, especially if they are being paid a lot. Again, I don't think it has much affect on 99% of players, if not more.
  21. Cause ours is better (Or NOT)
  22. I do think the Boston media is harsher than most, but I do think the whole "wilt under spotlight" thing is way overblown. Maybe a handful of players might have been affected, but it's hard to prove.
  23. Yup. I still like the totality of the pre 2022 winter moves vs 2021, total value quality and quantity, despite the JBJ disaster and questionable Story signing.
  24. I choose to believe alternative facts; Ort is not on the Sox. Kari Lake is the Governor of Arizona.
