  1. He may prefer the Sox, since he did well here in 2021. It might come down to where he thinks he will play more and for longer. With Mondesi on the 60, maybe that is BOS.
  2. Looks more and more like the A's will move to Las Vegas.
  3. Looks really bad for this small sample size. If he doesn't turn it around, certainlt Chang could beat him out for playing time, but it's not like Chang is lighting things up, either. Man, our middle IF has been a major cluster ____!
  4. It's hard to know. We are pretty sure they are looking at L-R splits as one factor, but not a lock straight platoon. Maybe McGuire is nursing some unknown injury. Maybe some pitchers have expressed a preference for Wong, already. Maybe they made the choice without pitcher input. They will probably not give an answer, if anyone ever asks.
  5. So far, yes, but I think Arroyo is going to get back to .710-.760.
  6. OPS Against leaders WOO .608 Bello .667 Shugart .678 Walter .718 Dermody .719 Jacques .736 Mata (.859 Whitlock, 1.010 Paxton, 1.057 Murphy) POR .311 Whitlock .332 Nail .350 Sharp .412 Drohan .444 Van Belle .472 Denlinger .570 Guerrero .577 Webb GRE .474 Jones .503 Trove .549 Kwiatkowski .580 Perry SAL .231 Bolden .358 Landry .447 de la Rosa (Beni trade) .508 Rogers .541 Dean (.976 E R-C)
  7. OPS Leaders on the farm.... WOO 1.018 Hamilton (3 Hrs, 10 SB/3CS) .981 Sogard (4 SB/0CS) .846 Fitzy .805 C Hamilton .798 Dalbec (2 HR and 11 rbi in 10 games) .792 Duran .787 Goodrum (19 BB and 9 Hits= .509 OBP but .278 SLG) .780 Alfaro (10 rbi in 14 games) (.622 Valdez/ .541 Abreu) POR .878 C Rosier (Groome trade) .863 Yorke (2 Hrs in 10 games) .814 Sikes (.690 Binelas, .663 Kavadas, .651 Lugo, .558 Rafaela) GRE 1.083 Meirdroth (11B and 8 Ks in 8 games) .808 Mayer (M Ferguson 9 BB and 8 SB in 10 games/ Hickey 10 BB and 6 Ks) SAL 1.053 Meijicano (4 gms) .875 Rosario .809 Chacon (10BB and 7 Ks in 10 gms) .786 Bleis
  8. Even with his diminished defense, he has to be better than Chang, right?
  9. Good points and well said. Our rotation has been really bad, at times, so we look for reasons- anywhere and everywhere.
  10. Yes. I think McGuire started the first 2 games of the season, so we all expected him to be "the main guy." Maybe pitchers do feel more comfortable with Wong, and that is the major reason Wong seems to be the #1. We'll see. At first, I thought maybe some of our younger guys had some experience with Wong on the farm, so that could be one reason, but not Kluber and Sale. It's not a strict L-R platoon, for sure, but 7 or 8 starts vs RHPs does look like that is a factor with McGuire.
  11. Makes sense, although I doubt they switch roles, this year, with Mata.
  12. Wikelman got drilled. Mayer 2-3 w 2 BB.
  13. The O's lost clubhouse leader Trey Mancini plus one of MLB's best closers in Jorge Lopez. They lost their innings lead Jordan Lyles (4.42 ERA.) How did replacing these guys with Kyle Gibson, Adam Frazier, Cole Irvin and M Givens an improvement? If you are counting on young guys getting better or returning vets from injury, we have plenty of those, too. I'm not so sure how much better the other teams got, either. jacko will tell you we lost our ace (Nate,) well, if that is true, the Yanks lost the closer (Chapman) and others, too.
  14. We signed Price, traded for Sale then Nate, extended Sale and Nate, and then... poof. Perez Perez II Richards Wacha Hill Kluber
  15. You don't often find that goose at $10M/1. Even $10M x 3 or 4+ won't get you an solid #2. It's past time we started treating the SP'er role like it was important and worthy of investment.
  16. Even with one, he's better than Kluber.
  17. The short answer: No. The longer one: Martin IL Joely IL Kelly & Mills 60 Day IL Paxton needs more time, and even then... ??? Politi has sucked in AAA. (.961 OPS Against) Mosqueda (.909), Sherriff (.810) or Broadway (.938)? LOL. Our best hope may be a few weeks away: .736 Mata .678 Walter We need Martin back.
  18. Maybe, just maybe... his wife.
  19. This is his 4th start after one relief game. IP H ER BB K 4, 1, 0, 1, 3 5, 4, 0, 1, 6 2.2, 2, 3, 3, 6 Tonight: 5.1, 3, 3, 2, 11 His ERA is 3.00, now.
  20. Mayer is 2-2 w a BB, mid game. His OPS is now up to .814. Paez got drilled in his start for Salem.
  21. Murphy went 6 5 H 2 ER 2 BB 5 K Brought his ERA down to 10.45. Hamilton is 1-2 w 2 BB and 2 SBs (10 in 17 games.)
  22. WOO is playing their 17th game, and Hamilton stole his 9th base, tonight. He's 1-2 with a 1.017 OPS. Abreu & Alfaro are 1-2 RHern homered Murphy has pitched 2 scoreless, so far.
  23. We are 1.5 games behind a WC slot and have a better run differential (+3) than the two teams between us and that slot: CLE (-3) 10-9 TOR (-12) 11-8 We are still ahead of HOU, SEA, LAD and SDP.
  24. Most of the pitchers are present, but we did miss a start from Whitlock and Martin is out, now. I'm not sure Paxton being out hurts us, but we'll see. Joely was not supposed to be a major addition, but I expected he'd beat out Ort, Kelly (who is on the 60 with Mills) and Brasier. If Houck and Whitlock stick as starters, it takes the heat off needing 2 from Sale, Kluber and Paxton to do well. We can likely get by with just one old vet coming through. That is assuming Bello and Pivetta fill their roles.
