I'd try to make it possible for Abreu and Rafaela to be on the 26, but they need to be playing a lot. I'm not sure we start the year like that. If they view Rafaela as SS and 2B depth as well as the most of time CF'er, he should be on the 26. If we bring back Dugo or Duvall, I'm not sure Abreu gets enough playing time to start on the 26. (Or, we start Rafaela in AAA and Abreu on the big club.)

It depends on how much they give him to spend this winter. If it's under $20, No. $20-30M? Maybe $40-50M? Probably Over $50M, Certainly

The hard part is upgrading the D without hurting the O. Players that are good at both are costly.

Not as easy as you might think. 2019-2023 OF'ers with 700+ PAs Renfroe ranks 46th in fWAR at 7.5 (just below Duvall and above Santender and Beni. Only 52 OF'er had a higher OPS, so less than 2 per team. He is likely not worth his contract and younger OF'er have more upside. Tighten the sample size to.... 1,000+ PAs: Renroe ranks 46th out 0f 117 OF'ers in OPS 1500+ 41st out of 79 2000+ 27th out of 37 ONLY 19 OF'ers have more PAs and a higher OPS than Renfroe since 2019.

He's made many. He's also made many good signings, good steals and good draft and IFA selections.

I'm not for bringing Renfroe back and wasn't upset we traded him. It was the return that shook me to the bone, or should I say, scalp.

His 3.9 fWAR ranks 53rd, ahead of Wacha, Giolito and Lynn and close to Nate at 4.2. He ranks 14th in one of your favorite stats xFIP- at 3.39, which is better than Bieber, Gallen, Snell, Kirby and others. 38th in ERA- at 88 and WHIP at 1.18. 9th in K/BB 4.9.

I agree, and I was all for adding not one but 2 SP'ers at the deadline. I'd have liked to have seen us trade for Civale who has 2 arb years left plus a rental like Montgomery.

Contractually and apparently attitudally, as well. Bring back Duvall, so we have someone to play RF, if Abreu stumbles, and we'll have a more balanced L-R OF and a younger OF with Rafaela and Abreu both on the 26.

No need to apologize. BTW, I am not a Bloom fan. I'm kinda ho-hum about him. Many of the worst things attributed to him, IMO, were not his doing or might have only been partially his doing. So far, he's been pretty bad on any contract over $10M, and it looks like this coming winter should see 2-3 of those deals made. That worries me. IMO, he has done what he has been told to do. The priorities were ordered for him and actually were set during DD's last few months in charge. He has built up the farm and not traded away DD's farm, most notably Bello, Casas, Duran, Crawford, Rafaela, Perales and Wikelman. The foundation of core and role players has greatly improved since the 2019-2021 purge. The budget is nearly free of all deadwood, as Sale's deal expires after 2024. (One can argue the Story, Yoshida and Devers deals don't look all the great out of the gate, but they do not look like near total busts like Sale and Price did. Bloom's lack of attention to the rotation was awful, and I'm not making an excuse, here. I think it sucked, bigtime, but if the master plan was all about 2024 and beyond, waiting to splurge on pitching, until exactly the moment you think the window is open, makes a lot of sense.
