    I was thinking he should have played FT earlier and instead of Duran, but Duran had that bust-out 2024 season, so it's understandable. Wilyer's offense is not much better, or wasn't until last night's stats were added, and the uptick in WAR is mostly playing time fueled, especially the dWAR.     Kleyver Salazar won Player of the Month for July (with Eyanson) and hit a 2 run jack, last night. He will certainly jump into the rankings, soon.

    They need to start soon on innings limits, no matter how they decide to do it. We need to also plan on saving some innings for October, of hope Crochet, Houck, Crawford or Oviedo can be in form by then and step in. Of course, only 3.5 to 4 SP'ers are needed for the playoffs, so that can help.

    At the start of the season, I felt this could be Abreu's "break out season," and he's kinda been a little bit of a let down. Maybe he'll end up making a big difference over the next 2 months and into the playoffs. Remember someone said earlier, "The PLAYOFFS? We need to look at .500 as the goal."

    Of course how well Monasterio, Seigler and Sogard are doing will be a factor. I'm a huge Romy fan, but I was encouraged to see the management decide to keep the hotter players on the 26 and not the vet. I'm really not sure we need 5 OF'ers plus Yoshida on the 26, but having 4 middle infielders seems too much as well. We could DFA White or Jones (both RHBs out of options) or demote Duran. Since LHB Yoshida could play LF, demoting Duran might be the best roster choice, but that is pretty radical. I'd prefer IDK over Story, but Story might have one more stretch of good batting in him. I just don't want him playing SS. The return of Mead would nix any idea of Story on the 26, IMO, but that's radicaL, TOO.

    His best season for the Sox by far was not that long ago. It was more recent than 2022, 2023, and 2024. He started slowly in 2025, so his best Sox stretch was about a year ago. That being said, I want nothing more to do with him. At most, he can be given a chance to win the 2B job, next spring, assuming we can use Mead at DH or LF.

    It is rare. Catchers in the top 30 in PAs who played for 2 teams in a season: Only one was top 15 in Catcher PAs (Vaz) 2025: Danny Jansen and Freddy Fermin 2024: Danny Jansen 2023: none 2022: Vaz (8th in PAs) 2021: Yan Gomes

    Hardly any catchers play "everyday." We traded for Reese the same day we traded away Vaz. He hit .877 after the trade. He started at Catcher more than anyone else. He played in 36 games AUG 1>>> Plawecki played in 25 after AUG 1. Wong was called up in Sept and was a late inning guy in many games.
