  1. I'm not for bringing Renfroe back and wasn't upset we traded him. It was the return that shook me to the bone, or should I say, scalp.
  2. No, but we should be better on D with Story at SS, Reyes and Urias at 2B, Rafaela and Abreu in the OF and Yoshida not in LF.
  3. They may also do as they did with Ben. When they decide to spend big, hire a new GM who is good at spending big.
  4. Maybe. Maybe it's his D and clubhouse attitude.
  5. We still had room under the tax line and did not need to pay Brasier $2M or Mondesi $3M. Or, had he signed almost anyone else, except Kluber....
  6. If the "plan" is to go for it in 2025, maybe not.
  7. Every team that adds him, gets rid of him in a year or less. 6 teams in 5 years, despite a .775 OPS and averaging 34 HRs and 90 rbi per 650.
  8. His 3.9 fWAR ranks 53rd, ahead of Wacha, Giolito and Lynn and close to Nate at 4.2. He ranks 14th in one of your favorite stats xFIP- at 3.39, which is better than Bieber, Gallen, Snell, Kirby and others. 38th in ERA- at 88 and WHIP at 1.18. 9th in K/BB 4.9.
  9. Party Pooper!
  10. I agree, and I was all for adding not one but 2 SP'ers at the deadline. I'd have liked to have seen us trade for Civale who has 2 arb years left plus a rental like Montgomery.
  11. AAV $18M Yoshida- someone the Sox have wanted for years and years. $14M: Kluber & Paxton (Bloom signings) This better change, this winter, or else!
  12. This week in the WC Race: BOS: 2@TBR, 3vBAL TOR: 2@OAK, 3vKCR TEX: 2vHOU, 3vOAK HOU: 2@TEX, 3vSDP SEA: 2@CIN, 4@TBR
  13. Sign one from Snell, Gray or Montgomery. Sign Duvall. Trade Duran & Romero for Garrett. This might even keep us under the tax line, although that should not be a top priority. SP1 Gray SP2 Garrett SP3 Bello SP4 Houck SP5/Long Relief Sale, Pivetta, Crawford Closer Jansen RP2 Martin RP3 Whitlock RP4 Schreiber RP5 Winckowski RP6 Bernardino or see SP5 RP7 Joely or see SP5 RP8 Murphy, Kelly, Robertson, Mills, Mata or see SP5 C: Wong & McGuire 1B: Casas (Duvall/Devers) 2B: Urias & Reyes 3B: Devers (Urias) SS: Story (Reyes/Rafaela) LF: Duran-Refsnyder platoon (Yoshida) CF: Duvall (Rafaela/Abreu) RF: Duvall (Abreu/Duvall) DH: Yoshida (Casas/Refsnyder)
  14. Contractually and apparently attitudally, as well. Bring back Duvall, so we have someone to play RF, if Abreu stumbles, and we'll have a more balanced L-R OF and a younger OF with Rafaela and Abreu both on the 26.
  15. No need to apologize. BTW, I am not a Bloom fan. I'm kinda ho-hum about him. Many of the worst things attributed to him, IMO, were not his doing or might have only been partially his doing. So far, he's been pretty bad on any contract over $10M, and it looks like this coming winter should see 2-3 of those deals made. That worries me. IMO, he has done what he has been told to do. The priorities were ordered for him and actually were set during DD's last few months in charge. He has built up the farm and not traded away DD's farm, most notably Bello, Casas, Duran, Crawford, Rafaela, Perales and Wikelman. The foundation of core and role players has greatly improved since the 2019-2021 purge. The budget is nearly free of all deadwood, as Sale's deal expires after 2024. (One can argue the Story, Yoshida and Devers deals don't look all the great out of the gate, but they do not look like near total busts like Sale and Price did. Bloom's lack of attention to the rotation was awful, and I'm not making an excuse, here. I think it sucked, bigtime, but if the master plan was all about 2024 and beyond, waiting to splurge on pitching, until exactly the moment you think the window is open, makes a lot of sense.
  16. Have fun. I love Boothbay Harbor. Magical place.
  17. ...and better D. ...and better O.
  18. If we miss out on signing two from the two top tiers and only sign one, we should bite the bullet and trade for one.
  19. Great pitching also makes the defense less impactful, especially if the staff is high on K's.
  20. Maybe a second tier one, and even if the go for a top tier, there are about 5 top tiers and LAD, SFG, PHI and maybe NYY or ____. THere should be one left over without a major team bidding against us, unless one of these teams sign 2. The Mets appear to be retooling. Maybe the Padres spend again.
  21. I called Kike to CF before opening day. I agree, the impact of signing Chapman and moving Devers to 1B and Casas would have greater impact than Yoshida to DH, but on a fixed budget, the impact would be countered by that much less spent oin pitching- a position we actually need to fix.
  22. They just called Teel and Anthony up to AA to join Mayer and the ones you mentioned- also Hickey.
  23. They may be able to develop Perales or E R-C into the next Garrett, anyway.
