    I didn't make the statement. It's not about what I want. it's about using language to express your ideas and opinions. The statement you made did not seem to match what I think you wanted to say, but I will not ask for clarification. That never turns out well.

    If we add Yamo, Burnes or maybe Snell or Monty, I'd be okay with Stroman as the second best SP addition, but he's not high on my lsit.

    Had he gone total fire sale in '22, a major group of Sox fans would have gone ape s***. Had he gone total buy mode in '22, I doubt we'd have gone very far, but yes, playing it halfway with piddly-ass moves please nobody. I was of the opinion we should have been buyer in '23, but I'm not sure even 2-3 major moves that all worked would have been enough. In hindsight, I think we should have sold in '22 and '23.

    Agreed. To me, Youk was the worst. (But, I'm glad we had him.) I liked Nixon, but he walked the line, IMO.

    Yes, in 2020 (sell), 2021 (buy) and '22 (buy & sell)- just not 2023. He was "Mr. Dithers" in 2023, yes.

    There are ways to get good players without adding salary. There are ways to shed some salary (like the reported lost chance to trade Sale,) and then adding equal or less salary through further trades. Bloom did leave some money on the table in '23, at the deadline. He could have added someone without going over the tax line, but I do think staying under the line was a pretty firm priority in '20, '21 and '23. Do you think he chose to not spend what he could have spent, very often?

    True. He was able to dump Diekman's salary at the deadline, but it wasn't nearly enough. It's obvious he was not in "sell mode." He did some selling, like Vaz & Diekman, but he also bought with Pham, Hosmer and to some extent McGuire.

    I agree, but I would not call making 4-5 moves "dithering." I'd call it a failure to pick a lane or address the major needs of the team. Vaz for Abreu & EValdez Diekman for McGuire & Broadway Northcut for Pham Groome for Hosmer, M Ferguson & C Rosier Cash for Almonte

    I do, too, but I like the calm and collected types, as well. I'm not big on those who smash things after a K or a bad ump call, but it's not a disqualifying actor for me.

    I agree. I have said we will NOT sign 3 SP'ers, but that does not change how I feel about the need for 3. Assuming we add two and Bello is the 2 or 3. That leaves 2 slots for tweeners or injury prone starters: Sale Pivetta Houck Crawford Whitlock We are asking for the same trouble we've seen for 4 years. Even if the top 3 pitchers give us 31+ starts, which is unlikely, we'll still be relying on too many question marks to expect success. Any one or two of those 5 on my list could do the job well enough for us to have a good season, but the problem is we don't know which two, until we cycle through a few of them to settle on the right two. We might get lucky, and the first two chosen do well, all year, but that is doubtful, at best. Look at Pivetta. He started 2023 in the rotation and really sucked. Later, after cycling through several more options, we went back to him, and it worked. It's a crapshoot.

    I like Lugo as our 3rd SP addition. He'd be fine as the second, if we sign Yamo. I might be okay with Monty & Lugo or Snell and Lugo. Stroman, Erod and Lugo?

    If that's what this is about, I'd say it's harmless.

    He made some key moves at the '21 deadline. He made several moves at the '22 deadline (buying and selling.) Nothing major, though, except Vaz. He dithered at the '23 deadline.

    I find it hard to believe he chose to not spend what he was allowed to spend, but I guess it's possible. He did choose a lot of bad moves- signings and trades, but when you stack up the good, the meh and the bad, I don't think it would look as bad as many seem to think it was. Of course, many are subjective, and when spending $1-5M on the vast majority of additions, and expectation ffactor should also be applied. I expected him to do better with the "BB" moves, but he did hit on a few. He really sucked on his $10M deals (Richards, Kike II and Kluber,) and his biggest signings (Story & Yoshida) are off to poor starts.

    LOL Certainly a top 5 move. (Not listed in any particular order.) Pivetta Whitlock Martin Schwarber Turner Schreiber Wacha Jansen Renfroe Maybe Abreu, Bernardino or Wink (Drafts & IFA prospects not included.) It's a list devoid of any current stars. That's for sure.

    So, let's all join in? If two consenting adults agree to do kinky and violent things, I'm not so sure it's such a big deal. It's the claims of going beyond consent that are the main issues, at hand, to me.

    Yes, that was my freshman year at ND, when ND beat #1 Texas in the Cotton Bowl. The #2, 3 and 4 teams were committed to other bowls. There were 4-5 teams that ended up with 1 loss. It seems to be a long standing tradition that beating the number one team means more than anything else, despite the fact that that #1 team usually drops to #4 to 6. In '73, ND beat Alabama and the polls split, because one poll did not update it's national champ after the bowl games. Other split championships: 2003 LSU (BCS) and USC (AP) Pre BCS 1997 MI & NEB 1991 WSH & MIA (Fla) 1990 COL & GA Tech 1978 Ala & USC 1974 USC & OK 3 teams: 1970 NEB, TEX & Ohio St 1964 ALA, Ark, ND

    I'd rather we avoid problem people, too. I do think people deserve a chance at redemption, and the full story on Bauer may never be known, but if we miss out on all the good pitchers, I'd think more about bauer.

    FSU falls one slot after beating a top 15 Louisville. Texas and AL jump several slots after beating a top 15 team. That's corruption. They should have covered their ases by not having FSU in the top 4 before this past week's games. Florida Sen. Rick Scott is demanding an investigation.
