  1. Me, too. Sometimes the frustration becomes so much, I forget to point out that fact.
  2. It must be that the AL Central is so great.
  3. soxprospects.com gave out 3 awards: Tristan Casas- Graduate of the Year Brayan Bello- Homegrown Player of the Year Mookie Betts- Ex-Prospects of the Year
  4. AVG in RF Above in LF
  5. Verdugo or Duran Plus Yorke, Drohan and Walter to MIA for Garrett was accepted on BTV.
  6. This year, surprisingly kinda yes, but career, I'd say average.
  7. The guy we tried to get, Eflin, just let up a 4 spot.
  8. There are not a lot of RHB impact player on the FA or trade market. We likely will settle on Duvall, but there may be high demand for him.
  9. If they both hit over .800, I wouldn’t care, but that is doubtful. We agree on spending on pitching as a better choice than Chapman, assuming we can’t “have it all.”
  10. Yes, with the idea bring Chapman, Devers and Casas would split all the corner IF and DH slots, Chapman would essentially be taking JTs slot on offense. Yoshida would only DH when one of those 3 got a day off or were hurt. That puts a further squeeze on the OF, but a trade could free up some room for the kids. Forcing Duran out of LF is not too appealing, to me.
  11. A lot depends on what the budget is, but pitching has to be the number one and number two on the list. I’d argue 3, but we do also need a big RH bat. That won’t be cheap. It does seem like Duvall would be much cheaper than Chapman, so that is where the budget matters. A lesser priority is a LH RP. A big trade could solve the budget issue to a large degree, but holding onto prospects seems to be a major position this team has held for 4+ years. Are we ready to switch gears on that front? If not, we will have to spend a lot to meet all the key priorities, perhaps even going over the second tax line.
  12. I’m not sure adding just one big RHd bat will be enough, but pitching is such a big need and expensive, I can’t see how we can do it all without going way over the tax line and or making major trades.
  13. An actual great idea!
  14. Bello started the season on the IL and missed 2 starts due to that.
  15. Ozzie Smith had an .589 OPS in 1980 and a 5.1 bWAR.
  16. The SS position offers the best case scenario for a great defender to be a big enough overall plus, despite sucking at the plate.
  17. I know I had not given up on him, at that time, but I do recall many were wanting a change in CF.
  18. Indeed. I do think MVPs .650 floor is about the lowest acceptable number, and even then, not for a long time. You’d have to be damn good on D to have a long career in CF at .675.
  19. I don't doubt that, at all. I think we all know about the ticket prices going up and up as the product provided is not. We all know it is a major concern to you and others, as is the rising cost of cable TV and all these sports networks. It sucks. People keep paying, so any business would charge what people will pay. Look at concert prices. The rise in Sox tix looks like chump change compared to those costs.
  20. 201 and counting.
  21. Agreed, the "market" they gave him in 2020 was absurd. The 2021 winter budget was about half of what was needed to build a top team. We had about 12-14 slots to fill. Somehow, Bloom pulled that one out of his ass. The 2022 season was a bit more fair, although I still feel like I'm not so sure Bloom had the Story contract money to spend, until they panicked and said "sign him!" He did okay with the '22 spending, except for Story- which was major. The 2023 winter budget was big, but he had a lot to replace. He dropped the ball on pitching, and the near misses on Nata and Eflin did him in. Too many near misses may not signal misunderstanding the market. Another point to make is that while our spending caught back up with 2019, so many other temas passed that mark, so some relativity might be needed, here.
  22. Like this one to your count...
  23. A lotta good it did anyone! Yoshi also DH'd a lot. Maybe, without JT, we spread the DH role around more, and then players won't need as many full days off. Maybe Yoshida DHs 80-110 games, Casas & Devers 15-20, each and we can keep all their bats in the line-up over 150-154 games.
  24. They could make all moves with ‘25 in mind while still boosting our chances in ‘24 by enough to keep fans happy. I will say, I think that’s what they did in ‘22 and ‘23, and it failed spectacularly.
  25. Right on, GG and Hugh!
