  1. Are you going to flip the script, this spring on Wong v McGuire? LOL!
  2. I think so, but durability is not really a teachable thing, in many ways. I suppose better workout regimes and prep can improve the odds of not getting hurt, but I feel like the risk is still high on these two. Whitlock did change is winter regime, and Houck has started 42 games in his career, but I would not bet the over on 150 IP for either of them. (I hope they both prove me wrong!)
  3. I'm not surprised, either, and I get why they try to protect QBs, but the game is not the same.
  4. I'm wondering if Wong is banged up, somehow. Usually Cora likes to match pitchers with specific catchers, so let's see what happens the second time through the rotation. I would not mind seeing 81 GS, each. I think mixing and matching catchers has some advantages, but probably not enough to override the comfort zone specific ones can create. A sort or lefty-righty platoon might work, but we have seen reverse splits with our catchers.
  5. Nice catch, thanks. 37K: 1 BB... WOW! (We saw some very nice ST'ing K:BB ratios, too.) Note: our rotation has 4 homegrown SP'ers in it. (Pivetta came up w PHI and had 71 GS with them before the trade by Bloom.)
  6. It's turned into flag FB for the QB. FB is not for pansies.
  7. Yes, indeed. They could hardly stay healthy when asked to pitch 60-100 innings. Now, we want 150 min. (Maybe 140)
  8. Keep the streak going, vegas!
  9. Crawford was the only SP'er who let up the one BB. Bello was the only SP'er who let up 2 ERs. Small sample size, but very impressive.
  10. Only 4 teams have started the season with each SP'er going 5 IP or more, while walking no more than 1 batter and allowing no more than 2 ERs.
  11. One time through the rotation, and one can only marvel at the performances and poise. IP H ER BB K 6.0 3 0 0 10 Houck 6.0 3 0 1 7 Crawford 6.0 3 1 0 10 Pivetta 5.0 3 1 0 8 Whitlock 5.0 5 2 0 2 B Bello Total: 28 IP 17 H 4 ER (1.29 ERA) 1 BB 37 K
  12. It does seem that simple, but this is a complicated game.
  13. I would not. The season is early. I would not risk overdoing it. He's had some long waits on the bench between innings. Keep his confidence high. Let's see how bad Chase Anderson is.
  14. McGuire is the only batter in the line-up with no run scored or batted in.
  15. LOL, yes, but he was not entirely alone. One thing to remember,, there were so many unmade plays that were not called errors, last season.
  16. Basketball: How about changing a foul lets the team shoot 1 FT and get the ball back? Soccer: make the goal bigger by 2 feet up and 2 feet on both sides. Football: stop treating the QB like a china doll.
  17. Line-UP 1. L Duran LF 2. L Devers 3B 3. R Story SS 4. L Casas 1B 5. R O'Neill RF 6. L Yoshida DH 7. L Valdez 2B 8. R Rafaela CF 9. L McGuire C I like this line-up. RHP Houck vs RHP Boyle
  18. We are first in slider %, 5th in cutters, 25th in curveballs and 7th in change ups
  19. We do still throw fastballs- just not many 4 seamers. It not like we stopped throwing FBs. We are last in FB% at 27%, which is 8% less than the next team.
