  1. name a couple incidents.
  2. Scherzer is more nutty.
  3. LOL Certainly a top 5 move. (Not listed in any particular order.) Pivetta Whitlock Martin Schwarber Turner Schreiber Wacha Jansen Renfroe Maybe Abreu, Bernardino or Wink (Drafts & IFA prospects not included.) It's a list devoid of any current stars. That's for sure.
  4. I have not heard of anything.
  5. So, let's all join in? If two consenting adults agree to do kinky and violent things, I'm not so sure it's such a big deal. It's the claims of going beyond consent that are the main issues, at hand, to me.
  6. Yes, that was my freshman year at ND, when ND beat #1 Texas in the Cotton Bowl. The #2, 3 and 4 teams were committed to other bowls. There were 4-5 teams that ended up with 1 loss. It seems to be a long standing tradition that beating the number one team means more than anything else, despite the fact that that #1 team usually drops to #4 to 6. In '73, ND beat Alabama and the polls split, because one poll did not update it's national champ after the bowl games. Other split championships: 2003 LSU (BCS) and USC (AP) Pre BCS 1997 MI & NEB 1991 WSH & MIA (Fla) 1990 COL & GA Tech 1978 Ala & USC 1974 USC & OK 3 teams: 1970 NEB, TEX & Ohio St 1964 ALA, Ark, ND
  7. How many illegal incidents?
  8. I'd rather we avoid problem people, too. I do think people deserve a chance at redemption, and the full story on Bauer may never be known, but if we miss out on all the good pitchers, I'd think more about bauer.
  9. FSU falls one slot after beating a top 15 Louisville. Texas and AL jump several slots after beating a top 15 team. That's corruption. They should have covered their ases by not having FSU in the top 4 before this past week's games. Florida Sen. Rick Scott is demanding an investigation.
  10. Yet, you want no part of him as a Red Sox.
  11. Is Bauer on his way?
  12. Agreed, but they could have put FSU in over Texas, too.
  13. But you said, "I can't see..." You mean, "I can't see why JH ...?"
  14. Not taking anything away from DD, but he has done well, when he spends really bigly.
  15. Not me. Not bad- but not good, either: 102 ERA+ since 2019 is not bad 4.56 FIP Meh 4.22 ERA Meh 1.14 WHIP is not bad
  16. That could certainly be a strong possibility, if he chose to stick around that long. (I'm not so sure about better than 2021. That budget was pretty tight.)
  17. Some can do both. It does not have to be either/or.
  18. Forget the Rays North label, let's go "Raiders East!"
  19. We know that about you and many of us agree. You think DD & the same budget gets the 2020 team over .500?
  20. I think the team realized DD was not the GM to sit through a long rebuild. I think he probably voiced his displeasure over not bringing Kimbrell and Kelly back after 2018 and was likely against trading Betts in the summer of 2019, as rumors suggested was discussed, before the Sox went on a winning stretch. There were rumors of friction between DD and the rest of the front office. It may not have been about the direction the team was taking, but IMO, it probably was. I think the parting was in both party's best interest. That's not to say DD would have quit after 2019 or 2020, but I think the friction would have grown even more intolerable. DD does have a history of working with rebuilding teams, so my theory could be wrong, but trading Betts is not the type of move DD enjoys making. Can we agree on that?
  21. I just can't see DD sitting through 2020, knowing that the 2021 budget was not going to be boosted to the level needed to compete, again, the fact that we did notwithstanding.
  22. Which would you prefer over a 6 year period? Order them by your choices... Team A: No rings 2 first place finishes (one long playoff run to AL championship series or WS loss) 2 second place finishes (2 WC placements with somewhat early exits from POs) 2 third place finishes (no WCs) No 4th or 5th place finishes Team B 1 ring 5 last place finishes (which might be 78-80 win seasons) Team C 2 WS appearances but 2 losses 4 last place finishes I'd choose B with A & C very close. (If I had to choose, I'd go B>A>C.)
  23. If the plan is to add 2 pitchers to the 26, it's pretty crowded, even if 1-2 of the top 13 start on the IL. I get the point about nothing to lose, but it would take a lot of injuries for a Rule 5 guy to stick. I agree on the no remaining options- Mata approach, assuming he's not traded. Watch him in ST'ing and make the choice. We don't have many great pitchers on the 40, but we do have a boatload of decent and or promising pitchers that rate to be better than Mata and a Rule 5 addition: Options remaining: 10 out of 13 are locks, if healthy... None: Sale, Jansen, Martin, Pivetta 1: 2: Bello, Houck, Crawford, Wink 3: Whitlock, Schreiber Borderline making 13 man MLB staff on opening day: (Only 1 makes it, assuming we add 2 and no injuries) 0: Mata (I think he gets traded or DFA'd, unless 3-4 guys get hurt.) 1: Bernardino 2: Campbell, Murphy, Robertson, Walter 3: Kelly (Wikelman & Perales not MLB ready) DFA? (Not considered for MLB opening day roster) 0: Llovera 2: Jacques, Weiss
  24. I am unhappy when we lose. I don't think I'm any less unhappy than others. Not ranting and raving about unhappiness, does not mean it is not there at the same levels of those who do. It sucks losing. One can hate it but still feel hope that the future looks brighter. One can hate it and think our future does not look brighter. One can hate it and not care about what the future looks like. I might have missed some other positions, or some may feel between some of those I listed. I guess, I'd be more angry, if I felt the team was going nowhere or in decline. I'm not sure another ring season is in the near future, but I am hopeful we will get relevant again.
