  1. Umm.. at least the Rays showed up tonight? I hope the Sox know that they can't depend on the Rays in the post season.
  2. So what you're saying is... he'll be easier and cheaper to extend before he's a free agent? I see You leopard! Lol
  3. Oh well. They just won 6 in a row and were 8-2 out of last 10.
  4. Probably because the 2nd most of our errors have come from the position you'd typically want the least amount of errors to come from.
  5. I always thought Moncada or Devers. That's probably why I wasn't too upset trading Shaw
  6. I do miss having Ortiz (of course everyone on here does save for the NY fans), but Sale has equalized that loss and then some. Is there a way to predict a favorite in playoff games for a short series vs a long series? I feel like our chances of advancement throughout the post season are better if any particular series drags on. Hmm.... I'll put it another way, the more a series drags on the more I like our chances. The more pitches we see, the better. The more times we get to use Sale, the better. We don't seem to have that almost guaranteed game changer (at least not this season) in our lineup everyday like we had in Ortiz (unless someone steps up-Betts?, Devers?). So, powering our way to a playoff win may not happen,. But we can wear teams down over a long series maybe.
  7. So, as long as we don't dig ourselves an insurmountable hole to climb out of, we should be very competitive when ALL 9 Innings (or more) are said and done.
  8. Maybe he meant "mule"?
  9. Surgery? But, but... Our Shoulder strengthening Program should cure him all right.
  10. Naw, not me. I can remember wanting to trade for Stanton well before his massive contract thinking he'd have a year like this (only with us). Not a huge deal though, 'cause I love our OF as is.
  11. What... You got something against weekends? And child labor laws? and fair pay? and raises?... and safe working conditions? and..
  12. Big if, but if the Sox make it to the WS, he could be near full strength by then, no? With side-sessions included of course.
  13. Of course Mike Lowell ('07: AS, MVP 5, WS MVP) had a career resurgence of sorts at age 31 and I was extremely wary of a Beckett extension later on (simply wasn't impressed w/ him by then, but what else could the Sox FO have done there? But that's besides the point). They both came up huge in '07 and that's really all that counts. Both had a direct impact on winning another WS which proved '04 wasn't just a fluke. Didn't Sanchez throw a perfect game for the Marlins as well at some point?
  14. Long live Bronson Arroyo
  15. I think we have the pitching to get past any team we face in the AL. Our left-side defense is STILL suspect, as is our ability to drive in runs (even when we seem to be hitting ok). I think they can get past Houston. Exact revenge on Cleveland. But probably lose to the Dodgers in the WS. I think the Sox win the WS if it's vs Washington. I think we'd beat the Cubs too.
  16. It's unusual, but I think both teams actually won that trade.
  17. Same here. I was really considering Young despite his poor season thinking maybe his power would show up out of the blue for the playoffs. I voted for Marrero & Davis instead. This way we have 4th OF, added Veteran, Speed, Injury depth, Infield, and Defense covered.
  18. Romano has two pitches. A FB & a Slider. I doubt he abandones his FB to throws ALL Sliders. Lay off the Slider and look for a FB to hit. I can't believe we're playing the Reds. It's September 22nd for christ sake.
  19. That could be it. You're comparing him to every other LFer in the league and I'm simply looking at him as a rookie, most likely going 20-20 .280/.350/.800, which is very close to what i was expecting from him coming in to this season. Either way, I don't think XB is the 2nd half of that 1-2 punch you were talking about. XB hasn't come close to what Beni has done this year.
  20. Other than Beni's Outs-on-Base, which I also attribute that to him being a rookie and a being on a flawed team that's over-compensating for their lack of power (in a nutshell), every other aspect of his game seems to be in line with what I expected. His stats are there for me.
  21. Really? I think Beni (at age 22) is having a fine rookie year. What more were you expecting? Honestly, I'm just curious.
  22. I agree. I was pushing to trade for Pom, like 6 weeks before the trade. When it happened (found out we traded Espi), all I thought was "Oh,boy... I hope I'm right".
  23. Vets! That's a good point too. We looked a little deer in the headlights last year in the playoffs. We need veteran deer, like the ones that have taken a hit before??? lol Seriously though, everyone talked about the Tribe like they were the young team playing the Sox. I remember yelling at the tv announcers "We're young too you ignorant f***s!!" hahaha
  24. Are you promoting a heavy Post Season bunt-and-run strategy? ..Might work better than waiting for someone to hit a HR strategy
