  1. I'm with you. I'm happy we will have Sale for another year, but I don't know about extending him beyond that with his health problems. Eovaldi could have a really bright future, and I want it in Boston. Pearce and Moreland make a great tandem and we should keep that next year too unless a remarkable first base option comes along. And while we're at it, once we are sure that Pedroia can't play 2B anymore, I would like the Sox to look at moving Betts back there. The Betts-Bogaerts double play was meant to be. That would open up either an outfield or DH spot, and good hitters for those positions are far easier to come by.
  2. Oh. My. G-d. Btw I don't think it's an accident that Price started pitching better in the playoffs the deeper we got in, and the more frequently he got used. For him it was a matter of getting used to the atmosphere and not having time to think too much.
  3. I don't have too much to add except to say it was a wonderful season of baseball to spend with all of you on this forum. Edit: https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-red-sox/2018/10/29/red-sox-world-series-teams-ranked - awesome article!
  4. Sox in 4. The tougher teams are already behind us
  5. Hooray such a happy night. Hopefully Sale has enough rest to be effective in the World Series. We've got one heck of a top 4 when everyone is pitching like they should.
  6. I never thought I'd say this, but I trust Kelly out there more than Kimbrel right now.
  7. I think the Astros will improve tonight on what they did last night, so I'm predicting a score of 8-3 (Sox win) instead. I don't think the Astros outside of Verlander can keep the Sox offense down. (Which, by the way, makes you realize just how good Verlander is.)
  8. I'm not sure who's available in the off-season to get to play 3B. I'm sure this is a horrible idea, but if there aren't any good third basemen available, would it be an option to move Bogaerts to third and acquire a shortstop instead?
  9. He's not going to be cheap but I think we just have to do it. Lock him up! Lock him up!
  10. I can't believe the things I said about JBJ earlier in the season. Go JBJ!
  11. If he's on, he's our best starter, and I say he's going to be on. Let's go Sox!!!
  12. Hi all, One quick observation: If you thought Eovaldi earned himself a big payday in the Yankees series, another quality start tonight may send him into the elite range.
  13. Sale is a tough one. He's going to ask for $30 million plus, but he seems to have problems pitching at a high level throughout a full season.
  14. Let's say the umpires reviewed the play and called the runner safe. Now it's bases loaded, still two outs. Very conceivable Kimbrel still gets the next batter and closes out the game. It was not a do-or-die play. Of course if Nunez sailed a wild throw into the dugout that's a different story.
  15. Very good insight.
  16. Whether Sale should have pitched the 9th or not, the fact is that Kimbrel has been shaky for a couple months now. I'm very concerned going into this series with the Astros. We need Kimbrel to be lights out.
  17. Given that we have Pedroia on the roster and he may be able to give us games next year, a platoon of Pedroia/Holt/Nunez makes sense, so we could forego Kinsler.
  18. I'm really hoping they keep Eovaldi, Pearce, and Kinsler.
  19. If I were asked to start a brand new baseball team, and I could draw players from existing teams with my very first pick unprotected, I may very well start with Lindor. That kind of production from the shortstop position is hard to find and he's only 24.
  20. I just hope he gets a chance at starting next year.
  21. I don't share your enthusiasm. I think he has real shoulder issues. But I hope you're right!
  22. I think it's because of Trout's huge walk count. He probably rarely gets anything to hit with runners on base.
  23. I don't ever remember seeing one team beat up another so badly as the Sox have the Orioles this year.
