    As I recall, it was between keeping Clay and keeping Rich Hill. I heart Rich Hill more, but they let him go. At this point we have neither pitcher. But looking to the 2019 season, I'm more interested in resigning Eovaldi than returning Clay to the fold. At least, so far.

    If Sale can't come back for the playoffs, the way Price is pitching we're still favorites. He's really ace material since the all-star break.

    I'm still enjoying the Blake Swihart vs. Jackie Bradley Jr. batting race. Today it is close! Swihart: .223 Bradley Jr: .225

    To be honest, I've been waiting for this slump. Betts, Benitendi, and Martinez have been carrying this team all year, by and large. This isn't the '98 Yankees with strong hitters up and down the lineup. It was only a matter of time before our big three cooled off a bit. That said, I'd like to see Steve Pearce more often, and Devers has some thump that is clearly missing while he's on the DL.

    My hope is that Sale - Price - ERod is our 1-2-3 in the playoffs, and Porcello - Eovaldi - Johnson 4-5-6 depth.

    Oh wow. I wonder what put Devers on the DL. In other news: https://www.boston.com/sports/mlb/2018/08/17/clay-buchholz-diamondbacks-complete-game. It's always nice to see Buchholz shows those flashes of brilliance. I give him 3-4 more starts before he breaks down for the year.

    While Harper has been on the upswing since the all-star break, yeah I'm with Bellhorn here. JDM is the best hitter in baseball right now.

    I've never heard of CJ Chatman. This plan hinges on him being a pretty good shortstop. An idea I've been thinking of is getting a good shortstop and moving Bogaerts over to third, where he played well at in 2013.

    I agree with the non-move. Starters will be moving to the bullpen as E-Rod and Wright return as it is, plus Brasier is helping and - at least at the time - it seemed Thornburg had figured things out. Plus Brandon Workman is at AAA and I think he'd be a fine addition to the bullpen.

    Lin is actually hitting .336 with an .889 OPS at AAA right now.

    I titled it, but I've softened on my angst against WAR. One thing I've noticed WAR models well is games played. If Mookie plays 40 games and hits 20 dingers, but misses 40 other games, doesn't make him equal to a player that takes 80 games to hit 20.

    Any thoughts about giving Lin a shot as the 3rd baseman?

    It may be time to consider moving Devers to first and listing 3B as a priority.

    I'm getting tired of hearing "if not for Devers' error". I was hoping his defense would improve.

    You know, if good outfielders are easier to find, then moving Mookie Betts back to 2b (in the off-season) doesn't sound so crazy.

    I know it's blasphemy but I'd prefer if they keep Kinsler.

    I haven't heard a peep about Wright returning from his injury. Is he done for the season? He seems unable to recover from injuries...
