  1. Yes, they should have resigned Lester, I get it...
  2. I think he would've tried to do that before the July deadline, if the rest of the team hadn't been so lousy.
  3. Sorry, that's wrong. Any team needs a certain about of luck to win a WS. Some fans use the "fluke" tag to avoid giving BC any credit. Why that's such a bad thing is something I still can't figure out.
  4. Do you want to kick his dog, before he leaves town?
  5. Still playing victim, eh dipshit? I don't think I've ever seen someone who could dish out more and take less.
  6. So, Dombrowski MUST be better? Right...
  7. You're asking for logic where none exists.
  8. Please. If Hanley were hitting, no one would care if he misread a fly ball per game. No one cared when Manny muffed a play. No one cared when Jeter couldn't get out of his own way at SS.
  9. I'm curious: Are fans expecting the new regime to off load the contracts of Ramirez, Sandoval, Porcello AND Miley? Will they be failures if they don't? This off season should be fun to watch...
  10. It took 10 years to "fully take hold'? That's dumb, even by your standards...
  11. Most fans can't grasp "long term". They want to win (unless it's a fluke) and they want to win yesterday. If the Sox don't have a winning record by the end of Sept, the overhaul will be a failure.
  12. Considering Henry made his money with statistical analysis, I don't see the Sox totally reverting to Dombrowski's "old school" philosophies. Hopefully, it'll be a healthy blend of both. I think Farrell's returning will depend on his health. If the Sox FO thought the coaching staff was at fault, I think they would've been gone by now.
  13. Good post. This is why I'm not exactly jumping for joy yet. For the "It can't get any worse" crowd; yeah, it certainly can
  14. I didn't say you made it up. But... you ARE on some pretty good meds at the moment. And "plausible" or not, I prefer the truth, if I'm going to skewer a player.
  15. No, no one could have predicted Koji would be the closer in 2013. But, you also have to credit the Sox FO for building a bullpen with enough depth to handle injuries to not one, but two pitchers. It's not like Koji never closed before and they just chucked him out there with their fingers crossed. He was 13-2 in save opportunities with Balt, in 2010.
  16. You mean like giving large extensions to aging players?
  17. Yeah, I don't get why some people think Koji was a nobody, until getting to Boston.
  18. Dombrowski just wasn't "lucky" enough to get a ring.
  19. I give it until January before the "Dombrowski is an idiot" threads start. Cherrington was offered to stay on as GM, but declined. Seem like there's a philosophical difference of opinion with either the FO, or Dombrowski. Should be interesting, however this goes.
  20. There's not a single report of this being true. Think the Boston media would let a tidbit like that slide?
  21. Who wouldn't be up for that??
  22. Exactly. Manny has always been an OF. Considering his experience, he SHOULD have been a lot better than he was, never mind better than Hanley. If Hanley was hitting like he should, fans would have a lot more patience with his fielding. Seems like "watching the games" makes some folks a bit foggy.
  23. "We could have had a real power hitting outfielder with $31 million left over to spend on pitching." Sounds like "better" to me.
  24. That's the number 1 reason not to trade Pedroia.
