  1. Mine too. And you should not change your avatar without warning. That kind of thing throws me off. LOL Pretty dog.
  2. Fred, this is something we agree on. I understand the arguments for building a new ballpark, but to me, no matter how nice a new ballpark would be, it wouldn't be the same. I'm obviously not a Yankee fan, but I felt the same way about the old YS. There is just too much history and tradition there.
  3. The real question is, are you an older poster who has returned from the dead? LOL
  4. I know you're talking about a different Rocket, but since you mentioned idols before they turned out to be such jerks, Clemens was my first true baseball idol/crush, before he turned out to be such a jerk.
  5. I also think they have question marks in their rotation. If everything breaks right for them, the rotation will be great. But as with the Sox rotation, the chances of everything breaking right are not good. Someone is likely to be injured or not perform up to expectations. Overall, I have to give them the edge in pitching, but I still think it's their lack of offense that will hold them back. Either way, it will be an interesting spring. I can't wait to get this show started!
  6. I am going to hold you to that Fred. LOL
  7. I don't really disagree with the idea that the rest of the division is weak. OTOH, the Sox are projected to be about the 6th best team in baseball. So while they may not be that good, I think they are good enough to win the division based on their own merit, not just on the fact that the rest of the division is weak. I agree that the FO will add another pitcher by the deadline. As far as the playoffs go, the key is to get there first, which the Sox have a good chance of doing. Once there, anything can happen.
  8. Is this why you complain during the offseason? So that if things go south, you can complain some more and say that you warned us? Obviously, you think the team is good enough to win the division. I saw your prediction. If they're good enough to win the division, then there's no need for all of the complaining.
  9. I am shocked Fred! Shocked, I tell you! But good for you. A little optimism never hurt anybody.
  10. Hi SoxnCycles. If the Yankees rotation is healthy, their pitching could be scary good. I still think they lack the offense though.
  11. I don't see the Yanks winning the division either, but you have to remember that they are the luckiest team I've ever seen.
  12. That's about the way I see it. I agree about the Tigers, and I might even put the Sox ahead of them at #5. My prediction for the division is for Boston to win it and the Rays to finish last. The other 3 teams are pretty much a toss up. That said, it's going to be a tight race. Any team getting a couple of good breaks can win it.
  13. Agreed. I usually don't have anything to debate or even add to your posts. Well said.
  14. Nor am I. As I said before, I think the Sox blew the Lester deal, but I think they recouped nicely. While a #1 would have been nice, I am okay with the rotation as is. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Yes, I will be greatly disappointed, but no need for continued complaining. I think the FO did a solid job this offseason.
  15. What other AL East team or teams do you think are better than the Sox?
  16. LOL, good to hear Spud, not that I really thought you would. You seem like a very level-headed and nice guy. I like you.
  17. I think they are about 6 overall. And I'm basing that off of what I have read and the projections that I have seen, which are not the "betting" projection systems. Again, I know that the games still have to be played, but the models like the Sox based on what is on paper.
  18. I see us as closer to the 6 end of that spectrum than the 10, but either way, doesn't that make the Sox a playoff contender?
  19. We've all made similar mistakes. No need to feel like an idiot. A couple months ago I was making a post about Kuroda, or so I thought, but I called him Matsui. LOL I have no idea where Matsui's name came from.
  20. I wholeheartedly agree that there is no need to rush in making the decision. To me, catching is a defense first position, and Vazquez seems to be elite in that category. Any offense he gives us is gravy, especially if the rest of the offense performs like they should.
  21. LOL Spud. Don't go all Fred on me. I understood what you were saying.
  22. I like it. Sounds like a feasible plan. Whatever ends up happening, it's nice that the Sox have the flexibility to consider several options. It will be interesting to see what happens with both Vazquez and Swihart.
  23. I know that that is a possbility, but I'm still having a hard time believing it. That would break my heart. I still haven't gotten over the loss of Varitek. LOL
  24. I feel the same way, but his value really seems to be as a catcher, not only for his bat, but also for his strong defense as well. If he's as good as he projects to be, then the team would be doing itself a disservice by moving him to another position.
  25. When things haven't gone well, Sox fans have often been miserable, disappointed, and/or heartbroken. But I don't think that's the same thing as the sense of entitlement that I see from some fans. Anyway, that's just my opinion. If the Sox don't play well this year, I am not going to be happy. I take the losses as hard as anyone. Too often, I can't sleep after a tough loss. That said, if things start going south, I'm not going to constantly bash the team or the FO.
