  1. Here's the story of my fantasy baseball life: Heston is pitching well. I pick him up. He pitches like crap. I drop him. He throws a no-no.
  2. I was reading a Fangraphs article about the meaning of the current standings as far as how the rest of the season will play out. It's interesting to note that the NL is playing out close to how the preseason projections expected them to play out, and the AL is almost the complete opposite. It turns out that at the 2 month mark, preseason projections have a much stronger correlation with winning percentage for the remainder of the season than either the actual W-L record or the Pythagorean W-L record during the first two months. In other words, don't judge the Sox by their W-L record to date, but rather by how they were projected to do before the season started. Teams that have largely underperformed (or overperformed, see Astros, Twins) will very likely regress to their level of expectation.
  3. I took my son to a US Women's soccer game last summer. I know nothing about soccer, but he is a crazed fan. I mention this because of the "I Believe" chant. It was great. Anyway, awesome game thread Thunder! I dang sure believe! We are winning tonight, no doubt in my mind! No one is stopping the Thunder mojo! Go Sox!
  4. LOL, I agree with this. Let the kid go nuts. He deserves it. His mojo cannot be stopped!
  5. His reaction was awesome! "Oh yeah baby!" Remy is usually pretty good about not being a homer, which is one of the things I hate about having to listen to other team's announcers, but he didn't hold back on that one. Can't say that I blame him. It's been a long time since we've had a rally like that.
  6. I apologize for the string of posts. LOL I'm just a little pumped up! WOOHOO!
  7. You would hope that a win like this would jump start the offense.
  8. He battled. He did not implode like he usually does. Finally, the offense is able to bail out a starting pitcher in a less than stellar start.
  9. You are the man Thunder! There is NO stopping the Thunder mojo! Great job!
  10. About as awesome as you can get! Finally! A late, come from behind win! I just read that the Sox were something like 1-26 when trailing going into the 7th.
  11. LOL On a more serious note, Xander is really starting to come around, both offensively and defensively. I believe he now leads all SS in OPS.
  12. No, it wasn't. You'd like to see him make it through the 5th at the very least, but he kept the team in the game.
  13. His defense is definitely underrated by many.
  14. Happy Anniversary MVP! I'm glad the Sox could pull this off for you!
  15. Pretty darn close Spud!
  16. LOL I was not familiar with that definition, but I like it!
  17. Proboscis - good word!
  18. He may not be making hard contact with ball to right field, but he has smoked some balls that have unfortunately found a defender's glove. He has been unlucky, and as much as I love my stats, I don't need them to tell me that that's the case.
  19. Good Buch is in the house!
  20. I like it Thunder! I get out of school on June 19th. What better way for both of us to start our summer vacations than to have our team in the midst of a hot streak and to be above .500? Prepare to pull out your brooms, ladies and gentlemen. We are winning today! As I said yesterday, Thunder mojo will not be denied! Get it done boys!
  21. You live by aggressive base running, you die by aggressive base running. When your team is having trouble scoring runs, being more aggressive is a good way to break out of it, and not just with waving runners home. IMO, the hitters have been more aggressive at the plate recently, and Farrell has been more aggressive with putting runners in motion recently.
  22. For the past 30 days, the team ERA is 3.73, good for 11th in MLB. For the past 14 days, the team ERA is 3.43, also 11th. And for the past 7 days, the team ERA is 2.15, 3rd in MLB. Who'da thunk it? The offense also seems to be waking up a bit, though they should still be scoring more runs than they have been.
  23. A double play would be nice.
