  1. VA is the best. To heck with a King of Talksox, VA is the QUEEN!
  2. You are obviously free to voice your opinion on Panda whenever you want. I never said otherwise, and certainly didn't mean to imply that you couldn't. If I disagree, I am likely to post a response to you stating why I disagree, but that doesn't mean that you can't continue to state what you believe. Just that I disagree. I don't think anyone here has accepted Panda's play as okay. I don't think anyone here has given him a pass on anything. Quite the contrary, actually. He has received a lot of brutal criticism, most of which has been deserved based on his play this year. I just happen to think he can turn it around. He may not be worth his contract, but he should certainly be better than what we've seen, closer to the level of what the FO expected when they signed him. If you don't think that's good enough, I respect that.
  3. At the moment, in hindsight, it looks terrible. No one can deny that. But yes, it is justification for signing him. You determine your area(s) of weakness, and you try to upgrade in that area. That's what the Sox did.
  4. As far as I know, I have been the only one saying that we should not trade Panda. Everyone else seems to agree with you. I understand your dislike of the guy, but you, or anyone else, has no way of knowing that he will always stink with this team. I always thought that his contract was too large, and that there were less expensive options. However, he should have provided us with a significant improvement over what we had at 3B last season. Did you honestly believe that he would not?
  5. All that work to get one run, and we give it right back.
  6. Come on offense, what do you say you score about 5 runs this inning?
  7. It's not just the out at home, but that changed the whole complexion of the inning.
  8. That was a horrendously awful call. What was he thinking?
  9. He is having a rough time with it today.
  10. I think Pablo at 1B and Hanley at 3B might be the way to go. The FA class at 1B doesn't look that hot. I don't know what would be available through trade. I like the idea of Castillo, Betts, and JBJ in the outfield defensively. I don't know how that would play out offensively. The only thing then is that it wouldn't leave us with much depth. At any rate, I don't think there needs to be a significant amount of work done in terms of position players. The FO needs to focus on pitching.
  11. I don't see the Sox keeping them both with the intention of having them platoon at catcher. Hanigan is still under contract, and to me it makes more sense having him as the backup for Vazquez or Swihart. It would probably make sense to trade one of them eventually, but I think they should hang on to both for now until we have a clearer picture of them both. I wonder how realistic/beneficial it would be to move Swihart to 1B. Would he be of more value to us there for the long term, or more value to us in a trade?
  12. I was too. I am far more concerned with defense from a catcher than I am with offense, and Vazquez shines defensively. This is not to take anything away from Swihart. I think he still needs more development in that area.
  13. LOL If your neighbors were asleep instead of watching the game, then they deserve to be woken up. I agree that the Sox need to keep Hanigan. I can't see a platoon of Vazquez and Swihart at catcher. They both need to be playing everyday, and Hanigan is the perfect veteran backup. It will be interesting to see what direction the Sox go with Vazquez and Swihart.
  14. Walk off wins are always cool. They better not overturn this.
  15. Nice strike 'em out throw 'em out! Now score a freaking run please!
  16. Porcello has pitched much better with Hanigan catching him. Pitchers are such fickle creatures. Anyway, it was an encouraging outing.
  17. I pretty much agree with this. I think the offense is pretty well set, aside from 1B. I want the FO to focus on pitching this offseason, both for the rotation and for the pen. Sign a #1 and a #2 or #3. Miley and Porcello are likely going to be in the rotation next year, barring an unforeseen trade. Then you can have Buchholz or Rodriguez in the other spot. I would prefer it to be Buchholz to start the season, giving us more depth, with Rodriguez ready to go when someone gets injured or underperforms. Kelly can go to the pen, and perhaps even do well in the closer's role.
  18. Typically, these types of games have ended in heartbreak. I hope that's not the case tonight.
  19. Touche'. I know you that you'd like to have them both on the left side of the infield, but if you had your choice of just one for SS, would you prefer Iggy over Xander?
  20. Nice outing from Porcello. Not that it means much this year, but the Sox are going to need him to be the pitcher they thought they were getting for next year. The offense, OTOH, is making Verlander look like the ace of old.
