  1. +1 again.
  2. +1 And just because each post has to have at least 3 characters, there's this.
  3. PA is hilarious. I love his sense of humor.
  4. Haters gonna hate.
  5. I agree that this does not present well for Hanley.
  6. Dan Shaughnessy ‏@Dan_Shaughnessy 19h19 hours ago Re: Pablo Sandoval. I think Boston might be the only market where a player risks getting ripped if he doesn't report early. I don't often agree with Shaughnessy, but he is spot on with this tweet.
  7. As others have said, even though it's possible that Swihart eventually ends up getting traded, it's not happening any time soon. Also, the Sox cannot trade Hanigan. That would be a huge mistake IMO. I think the likely scenario will be that Vazquez starts the season in AAA, with the reasoning that he needs more reps just by the fact that he's been out with a serious injury for an entire season. Not saying that I agree with that decision necessarily, but I think it's the likely scenario.
  8. Manny's career LF UZR/150 is -20.7. Not a big difference from the overall OF number, but a difference nonetheless. Manny cost the team approximately 2 wins defensively per season on average. Hanley cost the team approximately 3 wins defensively over one season. Manny also had a season where his UZR/150 was -33.8, which was worse than Hanley's, and another season where it was -28.3. How, in anyone's right mind, does that make Manny "fine" or "adequate" or "leagues above Hanley" or "a far cry from Hanley's". Whether Manny was an outfielder or not, his defense was terrible, not much better than Hanley's. The only reason his defense was tolerated was because of his offense.
  9. Gallardo also outpitched his FIP by over a run. Not a good sign. The contract is decent, but I'm not sure he's worth a first round pick.
  10. Considering the types of contracts that have been given out this offseason, the Os actually got a pretty deal for Gallardo, notwithstanding the lost first round pick. The Red Sox' first round pick was not protected, BTW.
  11. By pleasantly surprise, I don't mean he's going to be an All-Star. But I do think he will rebound to be the player that the Sox thought they were getting when they signed him, adjusted for normal decline.
  12. Just to clarify the point about Swihart's value as a catcher versus corner infielder, that statement was mainly in regards to trading him versus keeping him. If Vazquez pans out like we hope he will, I think Swihart would have more value to the Sox as a trade chip as a top catcher than he would playing for the Sox as a mediocre to good corner infielder.
  13. Forget revenue sharing. I should be getting paid a David Price like contract.
  14. He's kind of like Ben Lindbergh. I would have guessed that he was in his 40s or 50s, but he is only in his 20s.
  15. I agree. And I thought Lester said that he would have signed for Bailey money had it been offered at that point.
  16. And yet another reason why I like you.
  17. No need to guess my age. I'm sure I have posted it here, more than once.
  18. Yeah, I know who Gary is. I have no problem with him, just as I have no problem with Heidi. I actually don't even mind the "fluff" most of the time. Sometimes it's interesting to hear about things like what Mookie's favorite food and band are. I agree, I think I would have loved Ken Coleman and Don Gillis.
  19. Well, you know what they say, sex sells.
  20. LOL I am still giggling at the word "bimbi". Like I said, I have nothing against Heidi. She seems like a nice lady. I'm glad that you are able to confirm that. It must have been a thrill to meet her.
  21. No one is anointing anyone WS Champions yet, but they should be contenders, and they should be playing meaningful baseball in September. I think Pablo will pleasantly surprise us this year.
  22. I have no clue what they thought they were doing with the $70 mil offer, but I think they wanted Lester back, just on their terms. They were pretty set on not signing an aging pitcher to a huge contract, which IMO, is the correct philosophy. They did an about face on that philosophy this offseason in signing Price. IMO, it was a knee-jerk reaction, and not the wisest of moves.
  23. I guess this is a case where you don't buy into the stats because they don't support what you "see" with your eyes.
  24. If Hanley hit all season like he hit in April, his left field defense would be tolerated.
