  1. Thank you for posting this.
  2. Unfortunately, it seems that bad news elicits a lot more response than good news.
  3. From PA: A couple of days ago, Hanley asked to stay in the game to get some more reps. Remy said on the telecast today that both Hanley and Pablo are putting in extra work. It's early, but so far, I'm encouraged by both Hanley and Sandoval.
  4. I don't know if Henry had anything to do with it or not. But if he did, I don't think it would mean that he's not starting the season as the Sox manager. I think it would mean that Henry is trying to "soften the blow" should they end up firing Farrell. IMO, Farrell will get a chance. If the team does well, Farrell stays. If the team is mediocre or poor, Farrell will be fired. The firing of a recent cancer victim won't seem as harsh if his image is tarnished somewhat by this recent story.
  5. Pretty much. I miss some games due to being out of town, and I usually have to record the west coast games. Other than that, it's something I look forward to every day. I'm bummed when the Sox have an off day or there is a rain out. The Extra Innings package is the best thing since sliced bread.
  6. There is speculation that Farrell and Moran have been involved for a couple of years now, and that Henry allowed this story to leak now for that very reason. If there is any truth to that, then shame on Henry. What a greasy thing to do, not only to Farrell but to Moran. Personally, I don't see what the issue is with their involvement anyway. Farrell has been separated from his wife, and they are two consenting adults. What they do is their business.
  7. This is quite likely, and I think Manfred believes this also. Hence, the 30 day suspension, despite the fact that no police charges were filed. I'm sure this is also the reason why Chapman decided not to appeal. Manfred's hands are tied though. Thirty days was probably about the largest suspension he could give in this situation without Chapman appealing and without having creating a rift with the players union.
  8. Obviously the hope is that the Sox send Papi out as a 4 time World Series Champion, but at the very least, I would love for Papi to have a great season. I'd hate to see him struggle all year. He deserves to go out on a high note.
  9. I get to watch every regular season Sox game, so I won't complain (too much). Once the regular season starts, Extra Innings broadcasts every MLB game in my area except for the Os and the Nats, which I can watch on the local cable network. The biggest complaint is having to watch the feed of their choice, which is usually the home team's feed. It can be extremely annoying listening to other announcers cheering for their team.
  10. Pablo apparently put on a pretty good defensive show today. It's only one game, but it's always good to hear.
  11. Murphy talked about how shocked he was at the lack of major league offers for him. He said that he talked to several teams, but there was nothing concrete. This deal makes sense for Murphy because it was the best offer he received.
  12. I agree. And if he plays poorly then he will deserve the criticism. I just don't see the need for all the criticism before he has played any games.
  13. Not necessarily, but I think it depends on where Chapman lives. Regardless, the police did not find enough evidence to charge him with anything, not even gun charges. Do I think he's guilty of some form of domestic abuse? Absolutely. I'm just saying that it's kind of difficult for Manfred to pin a domestic violence rap on Chapman when the police couldn't find enough evidence to do so.
  14. That is true. My point is that everyone had already deemed him a failure before he even played a ST game. Every single thing that he does remotely wrong will be magnified tenfold, such as this first "flub", which was a non-flub IMO.
  15. I am blacked out from all of the Os and Nats games on my Extra Innings package, which isn't too bad because I can catch all of those games on MASN. However, the bad part about that is that I have to endure Gary Thorne for 18 games every year, and he is usually unbearable. So I call bullcrap on this too.
  16. My guide only lists the Sox game, which means that's the game I'm getting. Sometimes they list a possibility of 2 or 3 games, in which case I usually get screwed.
  17. Big time Jonesing, Spud, as I'm sure we all are. Can't wait for the real games to start. The offseason is way too long.
  18. I think people are looking to make Pablo a failure this year.
  19. I would definitely go with Foulke. That said, Koji gets the "No 9th Inning Drama" award.
  20. It must not be illegal because Chapman admitted to doing this, yet he wasn't charged with any crime. Discharging the firearm does seem to be a big reason why he received a 30 day suspension.
  21. The police were unable to find enough evidence to charge Chapman with anything. It sounds like it was a classic "he said, she said" situation where both sides changed their stories. Clearly something happened that night, but it's kind of hard to pin a domestic violence charge on a player who wasn't charged with domestic violence, or with anything for that matter. Believe me, I don't take domestic abuse lightly. Under the circumstances, I think Manfred did the best he could. I think he set a good precedent and I think he sent a strong message. It will be interesting to see what happens with Reyes.
  22. I did not see the game, but my understanding from what I read about it was that it was not an easy play to make, one that would probably not have resulted in an out even if Pablo had come up with the ball. In other words, most 3rd basemen would not have gotten an out on that play.
  23. Tomorrow (Thursday) night, 7 pm on MLB Network. The Sox are playing the Twins. I am very much looking forward to it since I don't get many Sox ST games either. I've been watching other games though, currently LAA @ SF. It's not the Sox, but it's baseball, which is better than no baseball.
  24. Welcome Yaz.
  25. Thank goodness the suspension was not long enough to get the Yanks the extra year. I also think it was a wise decision for Chapman not to appeal it.
