  1. I posted before the Sale trade that my biggest concern with our team was the starting pitching depth. The acquisition of Sale addressed that concern. Trading Buchholz reopens that concern, but to a lesser extent than when we had Buchholz but not Sale. I would have preferred to keep Buchholz, but I understand the need to reset the luxury tax penalty. This trade also helps sort out some of the roster congestion. As I said before, though, I hope this doesn't come back to bite us. Wouldn't it be ironic if we end up really needing a starting pitcher and the Phillies traded Buchholz back to us at the deadline?
  2. I strongly disagree that he has the right to cut up all the jerseys to get his way. That was not his call to make. He has the right to voice his displeasure to the FO or to whomever was in charge of selecting the jerseys, but ultimately he has to do what the owner wants him to do. He let his teammates down by 'getting out of it'. DLowe was not a bad teammate for wanting to choose another jersey. If he pouted and refused to pitch because of it, that would not necessarily make a bad teammate, but he would have been wrong and he would have been letting his team down by not playing. Personally, I think the White Sox brass was wrong to insist on those jerseys, but that still does not excuse Sale's behavior.
  3. 100% truth!
  4. And Shaw stated that he was the clubhouse leader last season, even while Papi was still with the team.
  5. I don't believe hitting into a DP counts against your baserunning stat, but the ability or inability to stay out of the force or DP at 2nd base does. Incidentally, Pedroia's GDP runs is a -2.7. A score of -2.5 is considered awful.
  6. Getting under the limit is no small thing, so that's a plus. Unlike others, I am not glad to see Buchholz go. When he is on, he is really, really good. Even if it is only for 1/2 a season. I just hope the trade doesn't come back to bite us.
  7. Everyone was talking baseball until you came along. Do as I say, not as I do.
  8. When you make an analogy, that doesn't mean that the situations are supposed to be exactly alike. The basic idea of balancing both the short term and long terms goals is very valid.
  9. I'm not going to worry about it at all. But if you call me nasty for responding to your post in the same way that you posted, I'm going to call you on it.
  10. Of course not. You never insult or attack people. You always have proper justification in your mind for calling people names, which makes it okay for you to do. Just make sure that no one else does it, because they would be completely out of line. Unless, of course, it's someone who agrees with you.
  11. That's fine if you don't see anything wrong with your post. But then don't make comments about other people's posts, which are no different than yours, because it comes across as hypocritical.
  12. LOL Dude, you need to post more often.
  13. I agree on both counts.
  14. I have always been a big believer in the philosophy by which Ben and Theo ran the organization. Pretty much everyone understands how important the farm system is.
  15. You can disagree with me all you want. You don't have to insult my ability to understand something in the process. Read this post of yours from a couple of days ago, especially the bold part, and tell me what you think about it.
  16. Well as I've told you before, when the debate is lost, the loser resorts to personal attacks. It's all you have.
  17. Not stupid at all. It's the same principle. Dombrowski should be balancing the long term with the short term.
  18. What does that even mean? You are skirting the issue. You attacked posters unprovoked. You are at fault here. Just stop.
  19. Oh, but I am extremely balanced.
  20. There's not a lot else going on right now to talk about, so what's the harm of having a civil discussion about it? If you don't want to join the discussion, then don't. There is no need to attack someone else who does. You should know that I'm one of the most positive posters around, so much so that I've been called a homer or a pollyanna more times than I can count. For anyone to now paint me as a whiner or a negative person is laughable.
  21. Precisely times two. FTR, I don't even hate Dombrowski.
  22. Why don't you try sticking to baseball rather than attacking other posters, which you claim you never do unless attacked first?
  23. I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't hate either Price or Sale. I am thrilled to have both on my team.
  24. I don't fault Sale for not wanting to play for the White Sox either, but you don't go and cut up all the jerseys.
  25. I don't understand unless you put it in a chart for me.
