  1. I agree that Pomeranz would make a better swing man than the others. That said, I would still consider putting ERod in AAA to start the season and picking up another reliever or two. I also agree that saving face on the Pomeranz trade should not be a factor. Perhaps I have higher hopes for Pom as a starter than others do. I would like to see how he does in the rotation before putting him in the pen.
  2. I sincerely wonder how much Dombrowski considers such stats when making trades. I don't think he's the type to choose player A over player B based advanced stats. I think he's more the type to sign a player based on his impression of the overall fit and need. Not saying that Dombrowski doesn't look at the stats, but he doesn't prioritize them as much as Theo and Ben did. I think Moreland is a good fit for the team for reasons already posted.
  3. Unless you're Pablo. Then you have to be in shape.
  4. I will be interested to see if Dombrowski will actually put Pomeranz in the pen. The optics of getting max value out of the trade should not be the reason why Pomeranz is kept in the rotation. There are a lot of good arguments for why he should be the one that goes to the pen over ERod or Wright. That said, if Pomeranz can be a solid middle rotation starter, he will be worth more to us as a starter than he would be as a reliever. All other things being equal with ERod and Wright, I think it's in the team's best interest to see what we have in him as a starter before moving him to the pen.
  5. Price to the pen would make Slasher happy. LOL
  6. As our friend JoeB likes to say, most GM types should never step in front of the microphone.
  7. There are certain 'moments' from past games that I can remember vividly, but for the most part, I can't remember details of what happened in games in 2016, much less remember things that happened from seasons farther back.
  8. The math of fantasy baseball doesn't cause me stress. What causes me stress is having enough time to do a good job with it. Contrary to what you say, it takes more time than just the few minutes each day to set your lineup. Just setting your lineup takes more than just a few minutes each day. That doesn't include the other stuff you have to do. Sure, you could get by with the bare minimum of just setting your lineup daily, but that's not likely to win you a championship. For someone who is not working, that might not be an issue. For someone who is working and can't access these sites at work, then has to come home and take care of her family and her home, it is.
  9. After playing in 2-3 fantasy leagues every year for the previous 7 years, I took last year off from fantasy. I may never go back. It was too stressful.
  10. Dombrowski stated just recently that he has Pomeranz and Wright penciled in for the #4 and #5 spots. I wonder if this has anything to do with ERod's injury, and if this is an indication that the injury might be more concerning than they've let on. Either way, I think it's an odd statement for Dombrowski to make at this time, especially since he had previously stated that ERod would be in the rotation.
  11. We do need more female posters. I wish VA would post more often. She's awesome and she tells it like it is.
  12. Golf is most definitely a sport. It is a competitive activity that involves physical skill. IMO, that's a sport. As I just said, I've never played, but I'm guessing it is more physically strenuous then you realize. Obviously not as strenuous at some other sports, but strenuous nonetheless.
  13. I have never golfed before, but I rock at mini golf!
  14. Is there really such a show? LOL I could not imagine. Then again, I couldn't imagine going on The Bachelor either and watching the guy you're dating date 24 other women at the same time. I'm not sure why anyone would put himself/herself through that.
  15. Haha. Good one!
  16. You could always join me in watching The Bachelor. Now that is some good drama.
  17. Everyone knows that size doesn't matter.
  18. Agreed. I think that the fans (not all of us) want Pablo gone more than the FO does. I'm not saying that the FO is thrilled with what they've gotten from Pablo so far, but I don't think they're chomping at the bit to get rid of him. Either way, our best scenario would be for Pablo to return in shape and to be an effective 3B for us for the remainder of his contract, or at least until Devers is ready. It sounds like he has been humbled by his experience last year, and it sounds like he is taking his conditioning seriously. Let's hope so.
  19. I don't particularly like the taste of coffee either, but if you put enough sugar and cinnamon vanilla cream in it, it's like you're not even drinking coffee. I don't know how anyone drinks it black. Baseball cannot start soon enough. In terms of baseball, things have been very boring lately.
  20. No offense taken by that statement. As far as Pablo being traded, I think that depends on several factors, such as how well he's playing, how well the team is doing, whether we have an acceptable replacement, and so on. In other words, I don't think the team will trade him just to be rid of him if the trade doesn't make sense, regardless of whether the return is decent.
  21. Of course everyone here has the right to form his or her own opinion about Pablo, but I agree with S5 that it is unfair to assume that Pablo is lazy, that he doesn't care, etc. It's fair to be disappointed in him though.
  22. I can certainly live with that too.
  23. The lefty righty thing is a big factor, and I'm guessing that you're right about certain types of hitters having more success against certain types of pitchers. That is different, however, from saying that a certain batter owns a certain pitcher.
  24. I have also read that a batter's better than normal success against a particular pitcher is mostly random. In other words, a manager putting a certain hitter into the lineup because he has good numbers against the opposing pitcher is probably mostly for naught. I will spare you the small sample size argument.
