  1. I disagree about Dombrowski being accountable for players who get injured. As I've said many times in my defense of Ben, the GM's job is to assemble a team who, on paper, is a contending team. I realize that what a team looks like on paper does not always transfer to the actual games, but the GM cannot control what happens on the field. In terms of the team assembled for this year, Dombrowski did a great job. That said, if there was something in the medical reports or the FO was not diligent in screening the health of these players before they were acquired, then we're talking a whole different story. Pomeranz' health questions remain to be answered. In terms of Smith and Thornburg, I think it's just bad luck.
  2. As a stand alone trade, I can agree with that.
  3. They have been pretty good. Also, I posted elsewhere that Dombrowski can't be blamed for the injuries to Smith and Thornburg. I thought those were actually pretty good trades. Dombrowski can't be held accountable for injuries and/or underperformances. I have been critical of Dombrowski's overall approach to building our team, but this year's team should be a division winning team. If they by some chance don't make the playoffs (and I'm in no way suggesting that they won't), it won't be Dombrowski's fault.
  4. I think you're on to something Yaz. It's not just the bullpen though. Dombrowski has cursed this team by trading away all of our prized prospects. How silly of me to be concerned about the approaching cliff. We have an 86 year curse facing us!
  5. They are frustrating, for sure. Can't seem to get anything consistent going.
  6. Hmm. Did you just call me a dumbazz?
  7. Yeah, it did. I am back to hating baseball.
  8. I am not a big Dombrowski fan, but I can't blame Dombrowski for Smith and Thornberg being injured. Dombrowski has no control over that. I do wish we had re-signed Koji. That said, the bullpen has not been a problem.
  9. His teammates never had an issue with it. I think his actions are misinterpreted.
  10. Good gracious, that was ugly.
  11. Gotta keep it tied here...
  12. Good call guys. UGH
  13. I am not advocating that Pablo lose his job. I am one of the few that thinks he deserves a longer look, and that is not anything against Marco. It is in the team's best interest to have Pablo return and play well, which I hope he does. If Pablo loses his job, it's pretty much going to be a sunk cost.
  14. He has looked good so far, both offensively and defensively. I know you have a special bias for him, much like mine for Vazquez. I hope they both do well.
  15. Oops, I forgot that Xander chokes with men in scoring position.
  16. I am positive that the team is in no rush in terms of Pablo's rehab.
  17. I guess I just didn't follow what you were saying. I agreed that last year's sample size was not adequate, but that was all people had to go off of, so I can understand the statements that Marco might not be any better than Pablo defensively. At the same time, this year's sample is too small to make a definitive assessment, even though Marco has been playing every day.
  18. More runs would be nice. Come on Xander!
  19. Not sure what your point is. I never said that playing twice a week is the same as playing everyday. I'm just saying that you can't know for sure what you have in a player based on 16 games.
  20. FTR, after reading Ross' comments and the following tweet, I am fully back on board the Pedroia bandwagon. Scott Lauber‏Verified account @ScottLauber 5h5 hours ago Dustin Pedroia, after going 2-for-3 in the first time he has ever batted in the 6-hole: "I'll rake in that spot, too." #RedSox
  21. Station is the man. I think it's the Buchholz avatar.
  22. He looks quicker than in the past, meaning last year? He was still recovering from injury last year. In 2014, he looked great.
  23. I agree. We can't say that he will be a poor defender based on the small sample size. OTOH, we can't say that he is going to be a good defender based on a similarly small sample size. He has looked good and done well so far. I like what I've seen.
