  1. Aww, Beni is really cute.
  2. I do find it interesting that Pedroia was dropped all the way down to the 6th spot.
  3. I voted for "Other", as in no major weakness or concern. I am confident that I will be proven right by the end of the regular season.
  4. Wow! Two runs in one inning????!!!! And counting....
  5. That's pretty much all I've been trying to about hitting being random. Good hitters will square the ball up more in clutch situations because they square the ball up more in all situations. There is skill involved. Again, I've never said that hitting is completely random.
  6. Sometimes, you smoke the ball but it goes right to a defender. Other times, you make weak contact and get a bloop hit. That is randomness.
  7. Thank you.
  8. Our offense will not be as good as it was last year, but it was so much better than the rest of the league, that even without Papi, it should still be one of the best offenses in the league. The guys just need to start performing to par.
  9. I like this post also.
  10. I like this post.
  11. Both the Orioles and the Yankees are playing over their heads right now. Our offense will come around enough. If anyone thought the Sox were going to run away with the division, that was not going to happen. Relax. We'll be fine.
  12. Yikes. The offense better get its act together.
  13. The problem is not the lack of Papi. Yes, our offense was going to drop off a little without him, but it should still be one of the best in the leagues. Saying that they need Papi in the line up is an excuse. It's time for these guys to step up and hit like they are capable of hitting. Simple as that. IMO, the offense and the team will be fine.
  14. Intentionally walking a batter is more often than not the wrong move.
  15. One of the many reasons why I love Pedro.
  16. Ross had a very good interpretation of what Pedroia said, IMO. It made me rethink my initial reaction to it. Also, Ross had some very good insight regarding Pedroia's leadership, for those who were/are concerned about his ability to be a leader. Ross would know better than any of us.
  17. Probably not with the people who do the voting for these awards, but Wins should mean very little in the Cy voting.
  18. I agree with you on both counts - Farrell should try to 'make something happen', and Bogaerts needs to shut his mouth and hit like he's supposed to hit. Quit making excuses. The offense is not as bad as it's been because Papi is missing. It's been this bad because most of our offense is underperforming. As far as trying some bunts, steals, etc., it does have to be with the right players. You can't steal for the sake of 'making something happen', for instance, if the guy has a good chance of being thrown out.
  19. Welcome home to Theo and Lester. And welcome back to Lackey and Koji. All will forever hold a place in my baseball heart. That said, kick some butt Red Sox! Enough of this losing crap!
  20. At least I'll get to bed early tonight.
  21. And Tanaka is only at 76 pitches starting the 8th. Really offense?
  22. I love Ortiz, but the lack of Ortiz is not the problem.
  23. Hitting involves skill, so hitting is not completely random. That's all.
