  1. The truth of the matter is, our eyes do lie to us because of human bias. It's like that Hanley at bat against Chapman. You and I saw two completely different things. I am a big Hanley fan, which I'm sure influenced what I saw. It's great when that stats and the eyes agree. When they don't, I'm going to rethink my opinion.
  2. That's it. Thank you.
  3. Probably.
  4. Well that's what I'm saying. No team wanted to take on that contract.
  5. I can't see him opting out and getting a better deal. Then again, I didn't see that pitcher (whose name escapes me at the moment) who just opted out last offseason getting a better deal either.
  6. Nick, Nick, Nick Just say no to 10 year deals!
  7. Well, we'll have to agree to disagree.
  8. That's fine. I am just wondering why no team made a claim then.
  9. Well that's all fine, but what do they have to lose by making a claim then? If they don't work out a trade, then they don't work out a trade. Worst case scenario is that nothing happens. Best case scenario is that they get Stanton for just money.
  10. It's not you that anyone has a problem with Moon. It's me.
  11. Has anyone ever said that there is not room for both? Honestly?
  12. Yup.
  13. It's kind of like trying to compare Swihart's defense to Vazquez'. It's an unfair comparison because the latter has been considered elite.
  14. Fair enough. To me, Beni is not a concern.
  15. Andrew Benintendi has been named the AL's August Player of the Month. Not bad for a bonehead.
  16. If teams knew that the Marlins would not give Stanton away, there would be no risk in claiming him. That would even give the team that wins the claim exclusive bargaining rights, which would help them out in a trade. The Marlins are likely looking to get some salary relief. IMO, other teams felt like the Marlins would unload Stanton on them if they made a claim.
  17. Stanton has 10 years left on that contract. That is a pretty big risk for any team to take on, especially if you're looking past his homerun tear this season.
  18. Heads up for anyone who hasn't heard - Tonight's game is starting at 7:38 instead of 8:08 to accommodate the Yankees travel schedule.
  19. It was a 'country club' in 2004 and in 2007 and in every other year that Tito managed the Sox. That's the way Tito ran the ship. Perhaps it was a little more so in 2011 due to Francona's personal issues, but the point stands that the whole idea, starting with Chicken and Beer, was overblown. The only difference with the clubhouse in 2011 and all the other years was the collapse in 2011, which was due to our pitching, not due to Francona losing the clubhouse. Had we made it to the playoffs that year, nothing would have been said.
  20. It's the principle of the thing.
  21. I loved Farrell as our pitching coach. IMO, that is the perfect role for him.
  22. I honestly believe that if Francona had stayed, we would have made the playoffs in 2012. The players would have rallied around him. Valentine was never the answer to Francona 'losing the clubhouse', which IMO, was overblown to begin with.
  23. Thank you for posting these numbers, my fellow Fangraphs supporter. I have mentioned this before and pointed out that most of that lead is due to Betts and Bradley, but Beni is holding his own. Beni is among the least of my worries on this team.
  24. On a different note, the Sox are 0 for 15 with RISP against the Yankees this series, and 19 for 128 with RISP against them for the year. This is what has been so frustrating with our offense. We can't get the timely hit.
