  1. You are speaking my language.
  2. Positive regression. Not that I think Dombrowski is finished adding offense, but I'm good with fielding this offense and adding another starting pitcher.
  3. Signing Moreland gives Dombrowski a little bit of leverage. He can now wait out the market on JD, and if JD happens to sign with another team, it wouldn't be the end of the world.
  4. Thanks Ben!
  5. This is why the Sox should absolutely not give JD more than 5 years, and even 5 years is too many. JD may very well become our next dead weight contract.
  6. We will see some improvement from some of the guys we already have. That, along with JD, would be enough of an improvement. Or that, along with a #2 pitcher, would be enough of an improvement.
  7. Dombrowski is apparently trying to trade Hanley. He'll have to eat most of the contract, but he should be able to save a few million there anyway. Not that I'm ready to trade Hanley, but if it comes down to losing Hanley or losing JBJ, I'd prefer to lose Hanley.
  8. That's what I'm counting on.
  9. Sure, the Yankees look tough. But I think you're selling our Red Sox a little short. Don't count us out before the season has even started.
  10. It's probably a combination of both. I think some catchers do genuinely prefer a certain way that a catcher receives the ball, etc. even though another catcher might be just as good defensively. In the case of Leon and Vaz, I think it's probably the result of the comfort level growing from being paired with a specific catcher, but that's just a guess based on both catchers' ability to handle pitchers well. However, if you have someone like Salty (no offense to him) versus Vazquez, then there would be a genuine pitcher handling preference.
  11. I am biting my tongue.
  12. As I posted not too long ago, Dave is wising up. He knows good advice when he sees it!
  13. I pretty much agree.
  14. He should not be in the 4 slot for sure. I know it's a small sample, but Moreland's stats were very good before he broke his toe. Maybe we'll see more of that Moreland.
  15. I don't know that Dombrowski would trade JBJ just to appease JD. IMO, Dombrowski would increase the amount of the contract before doing that. However, it's possible that Dombrowski already had the intention of trading JBJ once JD is signed, so who knows?
  16. That's part of the problem. Jeter let Stanton have the upper hand. As an owner, you can't let that happen.
  17. The Yankees don't scare me.
  18. This has always been my preference, to give a higher AAV for fewer years. $25 mil a year is rather steep for Hosmer, but I like the sound of 2 years. Anyway, it seems like a moot point now.
  19. Agreed. Dombrowski needs to wait it out, rather than misjudging the market and overpaying.
  20. I have read that also. He said that he'd prefer to play the OF, but that he was not opposed to being a DH.
  21. JD could get his fair share of at bats in the OF as a 4th outfielder. Regardless, he'll agree to DH if the money is right.
  22. I think this is the plan. Moreland was signed to be a guard against Hanley. At least I hope so. I don't want to trade Jackie.
  23. No, he isn't. A big bat is most definitely coming.
  24. Maybe not, but it doesn't hurt our chances either. Dombrowski will still sign a big bat, namely JD. I have no doubt. The question then becomes whether he trades JBJ or not, which I certainly hope he doesn't. Let JD primarily DH, and let Hanley and Moreland fight it out for 1B playing time.
