Not all of those things that Moon mentioned are likely going to happen, but there a lot of areas where we should see improvement. We just need to have average to better than average good luck.

Our infield defense could be rather scary, to be frank. That said, I was reading a Fangraphs article this morning that talked about how defensive chances have decreased by about 20% over the last decade, which is fairly significant. With strikeouts increasing each year, and a recently renewed emphasis on launch angle resulting in more homeruns, defense is becoming less important than it was 10 years ago. (Note: No one, especially me, is saying that defense is still not important.) With that being the case, some GMs and managers have started foregoing defense to get more offense on the field.

Not the way he played the last 2 years, and I'll excuse him for last year due to injury. For a utility player, he was awesome in 2014 and 2015, despite the defense. He may not play any position that well, but his ability to play just about any position has value in and of itself. For a bench player, versatility counts.

I heard Cora referred to today as "The Model of the Modern Manager". LOL One of the things he stressed was the importance of relaying the information from the analytics guys to the players of the field, and getting them to buy into it. I kind of have a man-crush on Cora too.

There is an optimum line up. It's not what most managers put on the field. Making a move in a lineup doesn't have that big of an impact because every move made has a counter effect somewhere else in the line up.

I think Price (if healthy) will have a big year. I also think Porcello will have quite a bounce back from last year. However, I think Pomeranz is going to drop off some. If we stay healthy, we'll have one of the best rotations in baseball.

I was not trying to imply that it did not happen because I don't remember it happening. I was, in fact, suggesting that it probably did happen based on the criticism that I read in the forums.

You get the best lineup by having your best players in the lineup. That's the important thing, not where they actually hit in the lineup.

This is something that we fans tend to forget when we question a manager's decision. There is so much more that goes into the manager's decision than what we are privy to. I question decisions from time to time too, but I do try to give the manager the benefit of the doubt. Despite what some people think, they do know more than we do.

Cora pretty much hit the nail on the head. The construction doesn't matter. What matters is you have your best guys in the lineup.

While I will hate to see Kimbrel go, I certainly hope the Sox don't give him a huge contract to keep him. IMO, a very good BP can be built relatively cheaply. Save the money and resources for other areas of need.

Here is what Porcello had to say about playing in Boston: “It's honestly a pleasure playing in Boston,” he explained. “Yeah, there are tough times if you're not playing well. You're going to hear about it. But what's wrong with that? Who doesn't want to hear about it? Because when you are playing well, it feels like you've got the entire world behind you, and that's all you can ask for as a player. That's fair.” To that, I say Amen brother. Makes me like him even more than I did before.

Some fans were extremely tough on Papi in 2009. I don't specifically remember anyone booing, but I remember what it was like on the forums.

This is not something Price should have said publicly. If he pitches poorly, he will hear it even louder now. He seems awfully sensitive to criticism. All that said, I am pulling for the guy to have a great season. Not just for the team's sake, but also for his personal sake.
