  1. Once again, I think you give Dombrowski too much credit. He is simply not an analytics type. Henry is an analytics type. I think he realized his error in judgment when he said that the team was going to back away a little from the use of analytics. But, you are entitled to your opinion, and I do respect that. Don't ever mistake my disagreeing with you as disrespect. That is never my intent.
  2. I understand that wanting Moreland was not hindsight for you, although comparing his deal to some of the ones signed recently is hindsight. I was just responding to your question about why you couldn't criticize Dombrowski in hindsight. I can understand you preferring other players over Moreland. I get that. I can understand you saying that we overpaid for Moreland, though at the time that we signed him, I disagree. But even with that, saying that his signing is terrible is just way over the top. Perhaps the team likes Moreland's presence in the clubhouse? Perhaps they like the fact that Moreland can handle playing in Boston? Perhaps they know that Moreland will not complain about playing time if he doesn't play everyday?
  3. I like Nick. He reminds me a little of SeaBeachFred. Very passionate about our team. But sometimes, I honestly don't know what point he's trying to make.
  4. When Moreland was first signed, that was the plan. Then Hanley's injury forced Moreland into most of the playing time at 1B. As I said before, if Cora can platoon them like they were intended to be platooned, I think they could be a very productive duo.
  5. After this past offseason, I'm thinking (hoping) we will see more players signing extensions. If Mookie signed a similar extension, that would be a 7 year extension for him @ $30 mil per year. Still too long, but better than the 10 year deal that would take him to his age 37 season that was being talked about.
  6. He may not be worth $22 mil next season, but if he's raking this year, it would be rather silly to sit him on the bench because of what he may or may not be worth next year. Especially if Moreland, who apparently has no business being on our team, if having a mediocre or worse season. If Hanley is hitting, he'll get the at bats. If he's not, he won't. Even Hanley realizes this.
  7. I don't do March Madness, but my son sure was excited about this.
  8. I actually think Cora has been a big influence in the recent changes that the team has made regarding analytics. Yes, Dombrowski hired Cora, for which I gave him kudos. However, he also turned right around and hired LaRussa, which says to me that while he's willing to give the new school a look, he's not fully on board with it. I cannot imagine that he is spearheading the move to greater use of analytics. He's willing to go along with the suggestions, etc., but he's not initiating these moves.
  9. You can hindsight criticize Dombrowski all you want to. I just think that you're way off base when you say that the Moreland signing was a terrible signing. I can understand you preferring that we signed someone else. I cannot understand this being a terrible signing, no matter how many times you say it.
  10. Once again Nick, what are you even talking about?
  11. Jacko thinks the Yanks are top 1.
  12. I have one word for you: R-E-G-R-E-S-S-I-O-N
  13. Ah, but if healthy, look out! Be afraid. Be very afraid!
  14. That is the bottom line. If Hanley is hitting, he'll get the at bats. If he's not hitting he won't. IMO, it would be a good thing if his option vests. That means he was hitting like the Hanley of old.
  15. When the Sox play the Yankees the first time, someone needs to drill Stanton. Apparently, he takes exception to that.
  16. I haven't really read the stories about Cash's 4 man rotation that closely, but on the surface, it just doesn't make any sense to me. We'll see. Can't wait for the season to start. Two more weeks! Forget that March Madness stuff. Go baseball!
  17. As always, well said.
  18. The perceived significant importance.
  19. Valid point. IMO, Cora is just trying to give Price the honor of being the #2 guy behind Sale. It's likely that Price's and Sale's starts end up getting separated because of all of the early off days or some other reason.
  20. I really like this.
  21. That's not happening either. Not anytime soon, anyway.
  22. Not a chance. Not anytime soon, anyway.
