  1. LOL It was a good cover while it lasted.
  2. Devers will need to improve his defense. I think he will, given the time, but he is currently making far too many errors.
  3. I don't see our catching as a weakness either. Nor do I see 1B as a weakness. Pitching depth could be a weakness. We'll have to wait and see. As of now, I think our infield defense is our greatest weakness.
  4. I always like Salty too. Didn't like his defense, but I liked his attitude and his work ethic. He's the type of player that I'm happy to have on the team.
  5. Lucroy was once an elite defender, at least in terms of pitch framing. I suppose it's possible that he could rebound, if healthy, but I think MVP is right in saying that his best days are behind him. Our catching tandem (with Swihart as a possible 3rd catcher) is pretty good. I'm not sure why you are so eager to replace Leon with Lucroy.
  6. Well you, sir, have a lot of common sense. I couldn't agree more with what you said. I know Dombrowski is aware of who is still available. I'm a little surprised he hasn't signed any starters to a minor league deal yet. I hope you're right about him adding someone soon. He signed a reliever to a minor league deal today. The name escapes me at the moment.
  7. Thanks for the game reports. I have been unable to get most of the ST games. I'm so ready for the season to start. I've been reading a lot of stuff about how sloppy our defense has been though. They have to get it together.
  8. I completely agree with all points. As far as firing up a bowl and relaxing, if I were into pottery and had a kiln, I'd do it.
  9. It's agreeing with Ben's team building philosophy and disagreeing with Dombrowski's.
  10. I would have preferred a starting pitcher over Martinez.
  11. Cora spoke with Kimbrel today and Kimbrel said that his daughter is 'doing better'. Nice touch by the team today to wear shirts to show their support for her. Carson Smith threw and inning today and supposedly looked really good. He could turn out to be huge piece in our pen.
  12. I think it's not so much comparing, but more trying to give Ben the credit that he deserves for our current team. It irks me to no end that Dombrowski is touted as such a genius for putting our team back in contention when the team was already there before Dombrowski made any moves, and the pieces that Dombrowski added were only possible because of what Ben left behind.
  13. Don't ever count Pedroia out.
  14. Shocker alert! I agree with you 100%!
  15. He's taking a lot of criticism for re-signing Moreland, but IMO, it gave him the leverage he needed with JD. Also, I don't think it's a bad deal at all.
  16. Maybe, but this is some big time hindsight. No one could have foreseen Moustakas having to settle for that kind of a deal. I criticize Dombrowski for a lot of things, but IMO, he did a good job in signing both Moreland and JD.
  17. I like Pom, Kimbrel, and Sale too. I love our team in a short term window.
  18. One more thing to note, for those of us who care. Vazquez caught Sale in this start, not Leon. You all can read into that what you'd like.
  19. GMs overpay for players all the time. Dombrowski bid against himself for Price. Dombrowski is a wise man and a better GM than any of us. But you do give him too much credit. I'm sorry, but it just isn't that hard to acquire players by overpaying for them, especially when you're paying with prospects that were already at your disposal.
  20. All that's been reported is that prayers are still needed for Lydia. This is not to blame Kimbrel in any way, because obviously his daughter comes first, but the Sox may be in need of another closer. Kimbrel is still in Boston. He's throwing, but even if he is physically ready, will he be mentally and emotionally up to the task? I know if my child was critically ill, I would not be able to perform my job at my best level.
  21. But then you create a cliff.
  22. As I've said before, none of the deals taken individually are terrible, though Dombrowski did overpay for Sale and especially Kimbrel. What's terrible is the sheer magnitude of prospects traded away in such a short period of time.
  23. It's not even a quality start.
