  1. It's only one start, but Price's outing is extremely encouraging and exciting. The offense was frustrating last night, but they will be formidable.
  2. Mookie wants the dance. JBJ and Beni were not on board with it this year. Mookie is going to try to come up with something else.
  3. Yes, because no teams ever start the season off 2-0.
  4. That was a well earned toss. The replay overturn was bogus, IMO. And after the Tigers had already celebrated the walk off victory. #nomorereplay
  5. I have agreed that I think Cora probably left Kelly in one batter too long, but in game one of the season, the decision is defensible. For many reasons.
  6. If I didn't know what I was doing, there would be no stress. As they say, ignorance is bliss.
  7. Trust me, I tried. It's a 13 team league, with several Yankees fans playing. It's the Dem Yanks league from the old board. I drafted as many Yankees as I could reasonably could.
  8. I pretty agree with everything you said here. I do not blame Cora for this loss. Then again, one would be hard pressed to find any loss that I blame on the manager. Cora absolutely has to show a little faith in his players, so while I thought he left Kelly in one batter too long, I have no problem with him doing so.
  9. OTOH, this is what Farrell got criticized often about - not being able to change the plan when the game situation called for it. Not that I agree with that criticism, just pointing that out.
  10. Two OOBs already. Cora defended both of them. Sounds a lot like Farrell.
  11. Not the way that I wanted to see Cora start his season, having to face the hound dogs right away, but he knows what it's like to play in Boston. He'll be fine.
  12. I agree with this philosophy as well. Yesterday's game just wasn't the time to employ it.
  13. You cannot manage an April (or March) game the same way you would manage a September game. You just can't. You'd blow out your pen by June. IMO, Cora left Kelly in one batter too long, but even that decision can be defended, being the first game of the season. Francona said it best, and I'm stealing this from Speier: There were instances when accepting an increased risk of one loss was the right thing to do for the sake of his team’s well-being in the bigger picture.
  14. If Xander hits like he did yesterday, he'd do more damage in the 5 hole than he would in the 3 hole.
  15. Hanley was injured last year. This year it's a whole new ball game.
  16. Hanley gets a bad rap. I'm pulling for him to have a monster season. If his option vests, that would be fine by me.
  17. Our bullpen will be fine. Cora will be fine. Those kinds of bullpen implosions happen. That it happened in the opening game of the season makes it seem a lot worse.
  18. What foundation?
  19. I don't have Hicks on my team, nor do I have Stanton, which is why he was able to hit 2 HRs yesterday.
  20. Hope the Yankees appreciate the one game handicap we gave them. They'll need it. Let's go!
