  1. Just as the quest for the division title has been over for a while, the quest for HFA throughout the playoffs is ovaaaah.
  2. Our bench guys played a great game. The only two guys who didn't get a hit last night were the two regular starters in the line up, JD and Leon. Go figure. I'm happy for Lin. His comments about his home run are priceless.
  3. Cora said today that the impression that people have that he's auditioning guys for his postseason bullpen is really not correct. He already knows who he wants.
  4. Great job Red Sox! Thank you for not allowing the Yankees to sweep. And thank you for not giving them the satisfaction of keeping you from clinching the division on their turf. Bring on the playoffs! And let the the wacky line ups begin!
  5. Or maybe it was a fun game from the 7th inning on. Stanton's grand slam just about did me in.
  6. Class act all the way.
  7. Betts Beni JD X-man Holt Devers SWI JBJ VAZ
  8. If you're talking about a team that goes on a roll in the last couple of weeks of the regular season, then that's not true. If you're talking about a team that goes on a roll during the playoffs, well then that goes without saying.
  9. It doesn't take much to get Jacko going again. LOL
  10. I think the Sox are pretty much set either way for next year. Some bullpen and depth additions. It's 2020 and beyond that worry me.
  11. Meh. If you have it, that's great, but being healthy and well-rested is more important than HFA.
  12. I judge by run differential and Pythagorean W-L. The Sox overtook the Astros for a brief time, but for most of the season, the Astros have been the team to beat. That doesn't mean the Sox can't win or that the Astros are a huge favorite, but if I'm being objective, then I have to say the Astros are currently the best team in baseball.
  13. Tonight's the night. Win!!!
  14. If the Sox win the championship this year, I think the Yankees go big with free agency in the offseason.
  15. Houston is currently the best team in baseball, but I like our chances.
  16. Farm system, farm system, farm system. 'Nuff said.
  17. The implication is not that they spend more than they can afford to spend, it's that drunken sailors don't spend wisely.
  18. LOL You crack me up.
  19. 29-15 is a .659 winning %. It's not exactly like the Sox were struggling.
  20. My understanding is that this was by his choice.
  21. There really is no evidence at all to back this statement up. I was not happy with him being DFA'd, but fortunately, the team did not miss him at all. That doesn't mean that he was a bad person or a bad teammate.
  22. Guilty, as charged. It's not just the money (it's not mine, after all), but I just appreciate the under the radar type moves so much more.
  23. I hope you're right. That said, I also hope that the Sox don't hand out insane contract after insane contract just to stay competitive during those 'cliff' years. That would be a recipe for disaster.
  24. I am not questioning whether Leon is a net plus or not. I completely agree with you about his defense and wanting him behind the plate. A strong offense can carry a black hole in the #9 spot. A mediocre or a struggling offense, not so much. As much as I hate to give up defense behind the plate, you really have to go with the better overall catcher, even if it mean sacrifice a little defense, especially if the offense is not hitting up to par.
  25. Mookie is nursing an injury. JD is not.
