  1. Dang, just when I started to have some faith in GMs not signing players to these crazy contracts. All I can think is stupid, stupid, stupid.
  2. In case anyone missed it, Henry finally admitted that the Sox messed up big time with Lester.
  3. When we are talking about 6+ year extensions for 30+ year old pitchers, I shudder.
  4. IMO, he will be too expensive for the Sox to keep. Also IMO, he is a far greater injury risk than Price was as the time of his signing.
  5. Speculation is that Harper is sure to get more than the $300 million offered to him by the Nats before the offseason.
  6. IMO, we should offer him a 3 year extension, max. Raise the AAV if necessary.
  7. !!!
  8. Amen, Brother Slash.
  9. IMO, the Sox really screwed the pooch with Swihart's development. He at one time had such a high ceiling. Personally, I am not opposed to keeping him on the team, along with Vaz and Leon. I realize that our current roster doesn't really allow for that unless there's an injury. The other problem seems to be that Cora is reluctant to give him much playing time.
  10. I completely agree on both counts. While I think Vaz would get the best return, I really hope that neither he or Leon is traded.
  11. I have no problem with roster expansions. What I have a problem with is the 35 relievers that come into the game once rosters are expanded. Having a 3 batter minimum for each pitcher would alleviate that problem.
  12. I do not disagree with that. Shifts are also supported by analytics, and I'm not a big fan of those either.
  13. I agree that none of the 3 are untouchable. I think the one that goes is the one that Dombrowski gets the best deal for.
  14. I like this idea as well.
  15. IMO, both batting average and slugging percentage could be considered an average or a percentage.
  16. As I just posted, I don't really like the idea of an opener. I'd rather have the starter start the game.
  17. That would put the team in a hairy situation, not unlike the one that we have now with Swihart.
  18. I am not really a fan of the Opener, but your plan looks fine, assuming the 'starter' can goes 6 innings. Personally, I'd rather see the scheduled starter start the game.
  19. Very early returns on our starting pitchers, particularly Sale and Price, are very good.
  20. The same can be said about having the skills to play baseball and knowing what it takes to assess, manage, or build a team.
  21. FTR, my kids were both delivered by a male OB/GYN.
  22. It seems to be picking up steam already.
  23. The term 'ace' is extremely subjective. I don't argue that. I don't even have my own set criteria or definition for it. I am just saying that with my feeling or interpretation of what an ace is, there aren't that many.
  24. I do not disagree with this.
  25. Well I did make the point previously that if you had a person who has both the experience as a player and the background in analytics, that he/she would probably be your best choice. This is an either/or decision.
