  1. Unreal. It makes you wonder what Mookie will get. SMH This is a sad day in baseball, IMO.
  2. Updated projected standings from the big three: Fangraphs - Yankees 98 wins, Astros 96 wins, Red Sox 95 wins, Cleveland 92 wins Baseball Prospectus - Astros 98 wins, Yankees 97 wins, Cleveland 96 wins, Red Sox 90 wins Davenport - Yankees 97 wins, Astros 96 wins, Red Sox 91 wins, Cleveland 90 wins Like last year, we have the Yankees and the Astros right where we want 'em.
  3. I have no words to describe the level of insanity that this contract reaches.
  4. JD has done an excellent job of coaching/mentoring our young hitters, not to mention being a great role model in terms of his work ethic. Dombrowski's finest hour.
  5. Too bad he got busted for PEDs.
  6. Well said. You said that much better than I did.
  7. I think this is the year JBJ puts it all together and stays away from that prolonged mega slump. He had an interesting comment a couple of games ago, when he said that he was more pleased with his single than with his home run, because in the past, he would have rolled over on that single pitch.
  8. Meh. As several people have said, if the Sox fail to make the playoffs, it won't be because of our bullpen.
  9. ^^This. Okay, maybe not within a 'few' years, but soon enough.
  10. Ha. This contract is so far beyond cringe-worthy I don't think there's even a name for it. Crazy azz Phillies.
  11. In!
  12. Cleveland is the weakest of the 4 teams, but they have so little competition that it will mostly be a cakewalk for them.
  13. LOL You're a nut.
  14. Personally, I love seeing those epic battles between pitcher and batter. IMO, the only real issue is the # of and the length of commercial breaks.
  15. I have already put in my vote for the Devil Rays. That said, I would not be surprised if any of the other 3 teams you mentioned took the 2nd wildcard. As far as the top 4 teams go, I would be highly surprised if any of them missed the playoffs. IMO, the only real question is who will win the AL East and who will have to settle for the WC. The most susceptible to missing the playoffs would be the Yankees, but sadly, that won't happen.
  16. Extremely small sample, but JBJ is looking good at the plate.
  17. Ut oh. Thornburg's first 2 batters faced: Single, HR
  18. I am wondering, in light of Swihart's brother passing, will this have any effect on the decision whether to keep Swihart or not? I know that it shouldn't. OTOH, it's kind of difficult to DFA a guy who just lost his brother.
  19. Agree.
  20. I know it was only one game, but that one hurt. Luckily for us, things took a good turn upward after that.
  21. Keep dreaming!
  22. Ha! So I wasn't so far off in the other thread.
  23. Just trying to get our friend Jacko a little more excited.
  24. On second thought...
  25. Ah. I kept thinking Pedro Ciriaco, but I knew that wasn't the right name. Go Chavis!
