  1. I am in no way advocating the firing of Cora. I'm a huge fan. That said, IMO, Cora is at fault for allowing this team to have a sense of complacency after last year's WS Championship. I get the sense that after the team somewhat cruised through the season last year, that they would do the same this year. Cora needs to fire these guys up somehow.
  2. Pathetic game today. Absolutely pathetic. This feels like 2014 all over again. Somebody needs to give these guys a good kick in the butt.
  3. It is time for the Rays to be put in their place.
  4. Fair point. That was not one of Cashman's finest moments.
  5. No doubt, and IMO it will be sooner rather than later.
  6. Red Sox Staff - Revivers of lost batting souls.
  7. WIN!!! That is all.
  8. The Rays will come back down to earth. They will be good, but they won't be that good. With the way that we've been playing, I really don't want to play them right now.
  9. Your rotation was weak or at last questionable, IMO, even eithout the Severino injury. Cashman chose to go with a strong BP instead of a stronger rotation. I think that was a mistake. I'm a Cashman fan. But I think he messed up this offseason with your rotation. Your offense was good to go. No one could have foreseen all of the injuries.
  10. Definitely. IMO, we are the better team. We just have to play like it.
  11. Poor preparation is the main reason for the struggles. I think Vaz does a good job of handling the staff. Swihart might end up doing a great job behind the plate as well, but I think that's something that will take a little bit of time and adjustment, both on his part and the pitchers' parts.
  12. I am sure that Cora had input into the decision of which catchers to keep. My guess is that his preference would have been to keep Vaz and Leon, based on how little playing time Swihart got last year. In the end, without being able to work out a trade, I think the decison came down to Leon being more likely to pass through waivers.
  13. Better the Rays than the Yankees. At least the Rays don't have Maddon anymore. They are actually tolerable these days.
  14. Price came up huge today. Ace performance.
  15. I think Cashman was wise not to sign Machado or Harper. Where he messed up was with not doing more to strengthen the rotation.
  16. To be honest, the way the Rays are pitching right now, playing them scares me.
  17. From RedSoxStats regarding the back end of our bullpen:
  18. Memo to Red Sox: Spare me from the insufferable Gary Thorne, who is a lot less insufferable when his team is losing.
  19. One game at a time. WIN!!!
  20. +100
  21. Having Leon up would not make this team an 11-2 team. That said, might Leon have been able to coax a pitcher through a tough inning a little better than one of the other catchers, resulting in the opposition scoring fewer runs? I think that's a very strong possibility. The thing is, the tandem of Leon and Vaz worked very well last year. It's not something I would have messed with.
  22. Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner.
  23. Feel good stats for Devers and JD: Red Sox Stats‏ @redsoxstats 7h7 hours ago Game winner was the only pitch out of the zone Devers swung at tonight. All his ingredients keep improving. His breakout is going to be spectacular. JDM 1-3, 2B (112), 2 BB, and his outs were hit 107 and 108. He's hitting 327/411/551 with 11 hard hit outs. He's been better this year than last and only has six strikeouts so far, that's a development to watch.
