  1. Ha. I'm sure you do. And I'm also glad you do.
  2. You and Oldtimer were right Denny. Good on you.
  3. As they say, the true test for a championship team is how they respond to adversity. They had it so easy last year for most of the season and postseason. I'm sure the losing is playing on their minds and they are pressing a bit. It's on Cora to figure out how to get the team back into it mentally and emotionally.
  4. I agree that some managers are being pressured against their will to follow what the analytics say. However, Cora is an analytics guy. He is not being pressured into anything. He believes in them.
  5. Dear Red Sox, Please win tonight. Thanks, Kimmi
  6. Hmm...
  7. I have always felt that a manager's biggest impact on the team is with the clubhouse management, and that a manager's in game decisions have little impact over the course of a season in comparison. I love Cora. Absolutely love him. But with the whole team struggling and playing lifeless, not to mention that their heads do not seem to be in the game, that has to fall on Cora. Fortunately for us, I have faith in Cora to be able to turn this around quickly.
  8. Computer geeks. Gotta love 'em.
  9. I was just kind of messing with you in that previous post. You can go ahead and start it anytime. Your team won the game, so it's your game thread to start.
  10. Who knows what analytics Cora is using. But Houston is one of the strongest teams when it comes to analytics.
  11. Not even speculation in this case.
  12. Cora experienced this with the Astros. This is the Astros' philosophy, so if you want to credit someone besides Cora, credit the Astros organization. Cora saw how well it worked with that franchise and he was adamant about using the same approach here. The Red Sox management had nothing to do with this decision, other than giving Cora the okay to do it his way. Dombrowski actually brought in La Russa, just in case, because he wasn't quite sure that Cora's strategies would work.
  13. Especially Cora. He is very much into analytics.
  14. I'm fine with that. We're winning tonight either way.
  15. Don't worry Max. I am extremely frustrated with this team right now, but I have no doubt we are making the playoffs.
  16. But then he would suffer from Contract Complacency Syndrome.
  17. !!!
  18. Vazquez has not lived up to his defensive hype, but he is still performing rather well with regards to pitch framing. Also, Cora obviously sees something in his game calling skills.
  19. There is no discord in the FO. If I read the interview correctly, Dombrowski was talking about the decision to keep Swihart over Leon at the beginning of the season, not the decision to cut Swihart. Cora wanted Leon from the beginning. That is evident by how little playing time Swihart got last year. Dombrowski made the business decision to keep Swihart rather than the baseball decision of keeping Leon. I believe they were all on the same page in calling Leon back up.
  20. As most of us have said, the pitching woes are not Swihart's fault. That said, Leon will likely make a difference in how well the pitchers pitch. Spot on tweet from Koch: Bill Koch‏ @BillKoch25 7h7 hours ago Chris Sale has thrown 100+ innings to four catchers. - Sale career OPS/Leon OPS - .621/.561 - Sale career K-BB/Leon K/BB - 5.27/7.76 Rick Porcello has thrown 100+ innings to five catchers. - Porcello career OPS/Leon OPS - .746/.731 - Porcello career K-BB/Leon K-BB - 3.12/4.74 Those aren't especially small samples. They are noteworthy differences. This isn't to say the #RedSox handled the Blake Swihart situation well, be it developing the player or maximizing his value. They certainly did not. But locking into this rotation could force concessions.
  21. It shouldn't matter, but reality says that it does. When a pitcher has his A game working, he can pitch to any catcher. When a pitcher just doesn't have it, it doesn't matter who the catcher is, the pitcher will stink. It's the vast majority of the games where the pitcher is somewhere in between that a catcher can make a difference.
  22. Check back with me in a month Harmony.
  23. Interesting observations Hitch. This team does seem to be lifeless right now. I was hoping that a series against the Yankees would get them fired up, but no such luck. It's not just that we lost last night's game, but it wasn't even close. What did we have, 3 hits?
  24. The Sox will make the playoffs. No doubt in my mind.
  25. As much as I hate to say it, I mostly agree with this post.
