  1. Totally agree with that stance. It would be utterly perplexing to me to not see more major moves, especially as Breslow keeps saying it's coming. So I'm pretty confident we'll bee feeling pretty good in a month or so. But if not, then I'll be right there with you. I get the emotional attachment to Sale, too. I was travelling around Nicaragua in '18 and ended up chatting with an older Bostonian gent in a bar late at night for a few hours about Sale's absolute mastery on the mound, and how no other pitcher could make you awe like him since Pedro. But unfortunately, we didn't get that Sale through his extension. I'm not sure he's in there any longer, but I'll always be in awe of what he was before his injury.
  2. But equally, Yorke is still at least a season away maybe two. We need a 2nd baseman now. We've picked up a guy that is more than likely quite a bit better than Yorke (with the same years of control), which then allows us to trade Yorke for the controllable starting pitching that we badly need. Doesn't that make any sense to you? I get why you're disillusioned for what it's worth. These past few years have tested even the most ardent fan's patience, but this move is indicative of having someone with some courage and decisiveness in charge at last.
  3. Ain't that the truth. I'm rather surprised by the negative reaction to.this trade. We've got an exciting 2nd baseman at last. Removed another 10m off the bill to spend elsewhere. We're clearly going to be sending a middle infield prospect or 2 away for pitching. If they get Teoscar, likely packaged with one of outfield prospects for a very exciting young pitcher. It's like people are judging the entire coming season on what we have now. Clearly more moves are coming. I think the last few years of nibbling around the edges have scarred people. Breslow isn't Bloom. There's other big moves coming.
  4. I love this trade.
  5. As a lifelong Liverpool fan, I can tell you, fans here have the exact same complaints about FSG, but are less in volume due to us being in with a shout of winning a lots of titles recently. That said, the club has outperformed its spending limits for years, mainly down the world class management structure they have in place. So they aren't taking from that part of the pot for sure. I don't think it's a financial issue at all. I think it's more that their attention is now drawn in a dozen different directions, with the investment portfolio only increasing. As an aside, when they took over at Liverpool, they conceded they knew nothing about football (soccer) and so put in experts that did. In baseball, I think they see themselves as the experts and so need no such favour from elsewhere.
  6. It seems to be 331M/11 but it includes this years 17.5m.
  7. I'm assuming it will come with a Devers extension for them, too. A trade for 1 year of Devers makes no sense for them.
  8. My first thought, too. I thought the Mets were a good partner for a Devers deal, but obviously they're done now and suddenly it really does feel like San Fran will have to do something big. And hopefully - if it's with us - stupid. Although I'm not at all familiar with their farm system.
  9. https://linktr.ee/ITMpod Inside the Monster interview Chaim Bloom. Good listen.
  10. I don't think there's any probably about it any longer. It's fast catching up with Pablo Sandoval's contract in the overall bad contract league.
  11. Yeah Bogey can get one. All three will get one. JD and Nate may well take it.
  12. Red Sox Stats @redsoxstats · 5m Ferguson and Rosier are both extremely fast, but none of these prospects are seemingly anything to write home about. Sox added Hosmer for a small amount of money, he's like best possible outcome Shaw, 4 months later. No idea if he's got a good read on them.
  13. Groome gone to Padres. Unexpected. Hosmer, Max Ferguson, Corey Rosier and cash to Sox.
  14. Jon Heyman has said there is an outside chance Bradley goes to the Phillies who are desperate for CF defence. All I can say to that is - please happen.
  15. I find a lot of the criticism aimed at Bloom (and Henry) mostly laughable, but if they let Devers walk, the questions will rightly fall hard on both of them.
  16. Obviously, the no trade stipulation X has complicates things, but the Sox must surely know what the offer is around that will get it done, and if they are willing to pull that trigger. If not it is absolutely insane not trading him (assuming he'll go). The package pack would be very good.
  17. It sometimes feels like one tragic individual has several profiles on this site.
  18. While I agree with you, Jad's point isn't without merit. We didn't keep Mookie. We're not going to re-sign Bogey. If Devers is let go too, it doesn't paint a pretty picture. I was (and am) all for resetting the way things are done after the money we've wasted on terrible contracts this last decade, but man, we're losing some huge talent along this journey. I like Story, but will never be happy that his signing meant X was a goner.
  19. If we sell off, I hope very much we'll see what we have just below. Edit: Well, we will, no question about it.
  20. There's literally zero chance we would try and make that kind of deal. And that's just fine by me. Extend Devers.
  21. We've been poor for the majority of this season, not two weeks (not withstanding the stellar stretch in the middle). We've now lost Sale, again. We're getting destroyed in the ALE. We have the hardest remaining schedule. The games after the ASB will tell us a lot, but selling is a very real possibility.
  22. Not that it needs to, but that it's a possibility. Are you not seeing the way we're playing at the moment?
  23. If you don't think there's a chance we are sellers I'm not sure what to say to you. If this freefall continues that's where we're heading. It'll all come down this next 2 weeks.
  24. It's going to be an interesting 2 and a bit weeks. I fear the Sox have found themselves in the exact position I have feared since the start of the season. Not out of the play off spot, but not secure in one. Stuck between committing to the sell off (and getting maximum value back for Bogey, JD and Evoaldi), and being buyers and going for it. I wonder if in some way, we'll do a bit of both.
