  1. I'll take that as evidence you don't actually have examples of people saying it was all down to his divorce. And I wasn't specifically talking about you. Most people look for reasons to back up their pre conceived biases. Which is why 'I knew it' after events are always so popular.
  2. Who determined that his numbers were solely down to his divorce? And why are you discounting one of the most stressful things that can happen to a person in relation to performing at their high pressured job? There's a multitude of variables that go into an athletes life and performance that most sports fans don't take a second to consider. Nobody knows s*** for sure, and anyone pretending that they do is making themselves look an idiot.
  3. Spot on. People are always experts after an event. I'm pretty sure this kills any chance of Monty now.
  4. Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN · 1h The Red Sox had a zoom meeting with Jordan Montgomery recently. He’d represent an upgrade for their ‘24 rotation, and if signed to a long-term deal, could be part of the staff rotation. They certainly have the payroll flexibility to make it happen. Peter Gammons @pgammo · 2h One NL executive yesterday said "we hear the Red Sox and Scott Boras had a good meeting recently and may get some deal eventually done on Jordan Montgomery." Monty looking more and more likely.
  5. Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo · 1h New at MassLive: In a conversation Wednesday, Brayan Bello said he's actively engaged with the Red Sox on extension talks and that things may be heating up. Is a deal close? "Mas o menos." Possible good news on the way.
  6. Yeah, agreed.
  7. No point giving away Refsnyder. Dirt cheap, serviceable 5th option. And as Bel says, Duran is only going for top quality pitching, which we don't seem to be able to make happen. I hope the fan base is ready to be patient and accept plenty of teething issues with Rafaela offence wise.
  8. O'Neil is not staying fit for 150 games. We'll be lucky to get 100 out of him.
  9. I wouldn't worry personally, I'd love to see him up if ready. Not sure that's how the FO will look at it though.
  10. You can still do that and not burn a year of control.
  11. Depends how they view the season. If they're booting, it wouldn't make sense to burn one of his years.
  12. Gabrielle Starr @gfstarr1 · 40m Sam Kennedy told us that Dustin Pedroia FaceTimed him, Alex Cora, several of the assistant GMs at dinner last night to point out the remaining free agents on the market and make his feelings known about what the Red Sox should do… The video - Would be weird for Kennedy to put this info out there if they didn't have something cooking...
  13. It would have been well worth it if Bloom traded the guy!
  14. Funny you should say this as I'm constantly amazed how quickly sports fans will throw their morals out the window if it means their team has a better chance of success.
  15. Yeah I was the same, I was hoping we'd go in sell mode from early on. That was an opportunity missed. Them's the breaks.
  16. That's fair. He was trying that, which made his moves at the deadlines all the more baffling as he had the chance to accelerate it. Possibly, greatly. But he either couldn't talk himself into a position on which road to take, or he was worried about the reaction if he took the 'sell' one.
  17. Yup. Which just further adds to the idea there was zero strategy behind anything we've done these past few years. I hope that's changing with Bres and Epstein back now.
  18. I was definitely on the sale side of things. We should have turned JD, Bogey, Paxton and the others (such as Sale if to be believed) into some very decent pieces in our organisation which we'd be utilising right now. I do think Bloom got a good amount of things right, but we had the chance to cash in twice on a team that was going nowhere. And that's without the f*** up of leaving us slightly over on the luxury tax, moving our compensatory pick back. So frustrating.
  19. There was a lot of problems above Bloom, no doubt, but he f***ed up two consecutive trade deadlines, and f***ed them up badly. He deserved to be sacked for that alone, but add in that it was reported often that he was very indecisive and questioned his own decisions over and over (the two deadlines would back that up), and it was right to move on from him, whether the issues get cleared up above him or not.
  20. He drafted relatively well. And still deserved to be fired.
  21. Because he f***ed up two trade deadlines in a row. Henry still wants to win. Just cheaper.
  22. I would have been more than fine with the package - but not going more then 6/7 years on an extension.
  23. And they'd like to make a big statement of intention. It's unlikely but definitely wouldn't be shocking.
  24. Was it Fred that was the crazy bastard (and got banned?) He had a little cabal of posters that seemed inspired by him to act as big as *******s as possible around 2016 on. Christ the forum was a tough read back then. I took several years off and when I popped back in he was gone.
