  1. Yea, very much seems that way.
  2. Devers was our only 3rd baseman when Casas got hurt the first time. You move him, it just creates another hole. It makes no sense. Yes, let's leave it there. Unless I could interest you in a conversation about Zebra s*** being an aphrodisiac?
  3. Appreciate it, but with your years long beef with Old Red, I can't help but feel if I'd replied to him with 'Zebra s*** is actually an aphrodisiac' you'd have responded with the same post. 😂
  4. I get the feeling the Cubs ask for Horner might be even higher than the Astros' for Paredes. It's a tough market for trades right now. Using one Bres' favourite words, he is going to have to get uncomfortable.
  5. It also means betraying someone/people. But semantics aside, I think everyone knew what I was getting at with that phrasing. I'd hope anyway. That's a fair question. Hard to know really. It would have been nice to have been a fly on the wall inside that meeting with Henry. It clearly didn't go well. As I point out ad nauseum, I have no issues with Devers getting rowdy about the whole situation. I don't think I've seen such a dishonest approach to a signing as the - Bregman will play 2nd debacle. It was absurd, and adds fuel to a raging fire that communication is not a strong point for this team. But with all that in mind, the team needed him. He told them to go swivel. And gleefully accepted the role at his new team. Regardless of the royal f*** up that led to that point, that for me is by the biggest sin in this whole shoddy affair.
  6. I'll ignore the Casas was inured the year before (Bregman signed) as it's an utterly useless comparison. The Red Sox had a good 3B man, too. And they needed a 1B when our alternative was Toro playing there. The argument that he was going to a new team and so playing 1st has nothing to do with the fact he wouldn't for his own teammates and team, despite being the all time highest paid player for said team in need, is quite something I must say. 😐 I responded because someone addressed me directly. You didn't need to respond at all if you don't want the conversation to continue. And yes, it is my opinion. Thanks Captain Obvious, but nobody should be under the illusion that anything posted on here is anything but opinion. Nobody is acting on inside knowledge. But if a man's direct actions and words on camera is not enough for you, again, you do you. It's more than enough for me. 👍
  7. This is why it's difficult. No way I'm sending them Abreu unless there's something BIG coming back our way with Paredes. And if it is Duran, I want something tasty back with him, too, but Houston don't seem interested in Duran. Hence the apparent stalemate.
  8. That to me IS throwing your teammates under the bus. We just lost our first baseman and badly needed him to play there. He could have come out, had a bit of a hissy fit (rightly so in terms of communication), put it on record that he was not happy with the way the entire debacle played out, and still pick up the mitt and play the position to help out the teammates. Instead he said no, then went to a new team and promptly said he'd play there. That is throwing your teammates under the bus, no matter the right he had in being annoyed.
  9. I'm with you on Gray in a vacuum. But I'd just rather that money was spent on the offence (and us still signing Ranger). I'd be very curious to see what Houston want for the Paredes.
  10. Jesus, how often do we have to go through this? The best paid guy in the history of the club literally refused to play 1st when our 1st baseman blew his knee out and we needed him. Then he complained he can't play every position on the diamond. As if that's what they were asking. Then he went to the Giants and proudly announced he'll play wherever they tell him. You don't have to reply to every Devers point like some jilted lover. He's not sending you a Christmas card. f*** that guy.
  11. Again, don't disagree. I reckon he'd take the Gray trade back now if he could, and just send a bit extra and no trade clause to Bregman. We'd certainly be in better shape for my money.
  12. Yeah, I mean looking at it logically - we didn't get Ryan as they valued him very high. We also haven't given up Bello as we value him very highly. That said, we have no idea if we want to trade Bello away outside of some mixed reporting. so hard to judge either way. I personally like that we are holding out high on player values (or at least seem to be). Bres should be.
  13. Yes, as much as I like the Ranger signing in a vacuum, I wish we'd spent it on the offence. Actually, I wish we'd signed Ranger and not traded for Gray and spent that on the offence.
  14. We'll trade money in the deal, too, which can be used on the pen.
  15. I don't disagree, but almost all the strength was on the offence side of things. It needed correcting - they may have gone too far, we'll see. This years draft - the same happens, we have a problem.
  16. I'm not sure it's right to say they've moved away from it. We'll know more the way they approach this years' draft, but they may have overcorrected. The system badly needed pitching, and pitching is the most valuable commodity, especially in trades, so I get that they moved more towards that, but they also need to replenish the offence side of things now, too.
  17. Yeah, it's a big upgrade if we get the 2nd baseman we're looking for. But we have to do that.
  18. They have to. If he's a bench piece it's good business as he covers SS for Story (as well as 3rd and 2nd). If he is the starting 2nd baseman, man, it's a terrible move.
  19. *groan* This better be a depth piece rather than our starting 2nd baseman.
  20. On the 2nd of May Casas blew out his knee and Devers refused to play 1st. He wasn't going to play anywhere other than DH at that point. That doesn't mean he wouldn't have been back on 3rd earlier if Bregman got hurt. That said, the man-child may have refused and thrown his teammates under the bus then, too.
  21. The Atheltics would want a crazy package for him. And we'd still be stuck with a DH sitting there on $18m a year. It's just not realistic.
  22. Hmm...I mean it's hardly ideal, but keeps Rafaela in CF, allows Masa, and Casas eventually, to share the DH. Unlocks the roster somewhat. It would be last resort stuff, but the more the off season goes on the more we're edging towards this sort of thing. And I preach patience through the off season, normally. That said we'd still be very left handed.
  23. Were we ever there to circle back? I think the chance of us trading for a 32 year old on $32.5m a year for the next 6 seasons is zero.
