  1. Absolutely zero chance of that happening.
  2. What makes him a douche?
  3. Bello (or Sandoval if there's a market) seem quite likely to go now. They will want to shed a little salary while still getting their bat for the infield. Horner is who I want now we need great infield defence, but he's one year and will cost a pretty penny, so I think that's a no.
  4. FO apologist is the term I believe. 🙄 They were always going to spend this year, on who and if they got it right were the only questions. We've now lost our 2nd and 5th picks and $1m in International money with the Suarez signing. No small hit.
  5. Completely agree. I think he's doing a pretty good job.
  6. Do let us know what the Bastards of Boston Baseball are telling us we should be angry at next, won't you?
  7. Yeah it;s felt like that from the start. You can sense he;s comfortable analysing and projecting pitching, maybe less so position players. Which makes sense.
  8. Yeah agreed all round, Kimmi. Very comfortable with this contract, even if it's a year longer than I'd like. Will reset the narrative that was building around not giving Bregman the trade clause, too. Which is important.
  9. Same. I thought we might get another pitcher, but I didn't see it being a big FA signing. Not a Bres usual type, either. Lots of good numbers under the hood and his Post Season numbers are insane. I can't help but feel a trade of Bello, Sandoval (though I don't think he has much value), or another is on the cards for infield help. I don't think Duran is going anywhere now. Lots of options on the table though, and our rotation is absolutely beastish with depth, too. Thank Christ the whining about not signing a FA can stop now, too.
  10. Always easier in hindsight. Just as it is to attack people for bidding against themselves.
  11. Well it don't come much cheaper than $5m a year. And they didn't do it. Even I was probably on board at that price. No idea how highly rated the prospect they sent back was mind.
  12. I tilt the other way. I think we need a good bat more, but I won't complain if we improve the rotation.
  13. Tricky one. Trying to win this year I'd prefer Gio. But Early is almost ready and needs to play at MLB level at some point and is more exciting long term.
  14. Question is how. Surely we can't do another trade. And there's not many pitchers on the FA list without a QO attached to them that I think we'll go after. So possibly one of - Framber Valdez Zac Gallen Ranger Suárez I can't see us laying out for any of them. Bet you Gio will be brought back now.
  15. We also shouldn't overlook that Bregman has a young family and is moving for the second time in two years. The guy wanted somewhere he knows he's going to stay for the duration and bring up his kids in one place. My gut is if the Sox had given him that he might be here. Though the details around the referrals are sketchy so impossible to be sure.
  16. The fanbase will lose it's mind. Like, REALLY lose it's mind. Twitter will be popcorn central that day.
  17. There's a lot of talk around that we're pivoting to a stop gap at 3rd/2nd and looking to improve the rotation even further. Making it about run prevention. Which means you can kiss goodbye to Suarez and Paredes you'd imagine. I can't say run prevention excites me quite as much as run scoring....
  18. I can't disagree. I'd love to know how many different routes they have planned out. And how desperate they feel, or don't.
  19. I'm really torn on this. That is not a contract I want us giving to Bregman in a vacuum. But we aren't in a vacuum, we're in a world where the Sox have mostly been mismanaged for 6 years. And so with the window open to win, its perfectly fine to say we should go for it and overpay for the the first three years knowing the last two would hurt us. But we just seem programmed, like literally programmed to decide things on how they read after being run through their model. It often feels like they'll let perfect be the enemy of good.
  20. I think Arenado is plan J, but we're heading there at a rate of knots that's for sure. Whatever it is they choose, (and I just don't see it being Bo) I think a lot of the fan base is going to be extremely pissed off.
  21. Once again then -- this is in relation to Arenado coming here. Duran ranked in the 95th percentile or higher in fielding metrics with 10 Outs Above Average (OAA) and 23 Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) in CF in 2024. I'd rather he go back there and Raf to 2nd and keep the athleticism in the team than bring in a 3rd baseman that's growing older and declining before our eyes for the next two years especially with his contract. Thankfully, the FO have no interest in Arenado, so we won't have to worry either way.
  22. I don't want either, but I certainly don't want Arenado at the Sox unless they're just handing us Donavan with him. Stellar is pushing it too far, but I have no worries about Rafaela at 2nd. He'd be fine there. And Duran gets to move back to CF where he thrived. Again, worst outcome no matter what, but I have a clear favourite between the two.
  23. And still preferable to gong after Arenado. He's played 34 games there in two seasons. It's ridiculous to take anything from that small a data sample. I've no doubt he will be able to play stellar defence at 2nd, and if he hits like last year, I'm fine with that production there, too. Not that I want this move to happen particularly.
